First Model Defect to Arise!
Vehicle
2007 Mazda CX-7 Grand Touring 4dr SUV (2.3L 4cyl Turbo 6A)
Review
I have been a very happy motorist for the first 60,000 miles put on my Mazda CX-7. This is my third review for this car. My car averages between 19-21 mpg. I do lots of highway traveling and I usually travel 200+ mile trips. My OEM tires lasted for 28,000. My second set of tires (not factory but dealer recommended and cheaper) will probably be replaced at 80,000. Until 60,000 I had absolutely no issues with this car. About 60,000 the fuel sensor started coming up. I have identified I trigger this failure when stepping on the gas during exit ramp to highway acceleration events. There have been three such sensor failures, seems to be a recurring defect.
Favorite Features
Exterior design, interior layout, Bose stereo.
Suggested Improvements
Engine electronics improvement

Stellar

Review
I love this car and feel very safe driving it. The engine, performance, style and agility are impressive. I'm glad I bought the 2007 model because the gas mileage is better than the 2009's which take regular fuel. I've never owned a vehicle that made me excited about driving until I bought my copper red mica CX-7--its a blast to drive.
Favorite Features
The five star crash and safety rating, the engine which is perfectly mated to the vehicle, the interior leather, Bose stereo, the firm but comfortable seats and the overall agility.
Suggested Improvements
Now that premium gas is under 2.00, I have no suggested improvements because this vehicle is perfect for a single man who wants something sporty, safe, gorgeous to look at and with a fair amount of utility.

Review
The car looks nice but the tires are terrible. I only have 11,000 miles on the car and already need to replace all 4. I'm only 5'2 and there are a lot of blind spots in this vehicle. Fuel efficiency is ok, thankfully I only drive around town.
Favorite Features
The look of the car is sporty. Roomy trunk area.
Suggested Improvements
TIRES, blind spots, back seats are very uncomfortable.

There are some issues

We have had this car for a little over 2 years and have 16,000 miles. We need all new tires because this car comes with racing tires which have a life of abut 20,000 miles. Wish I would have known that to save up for the $700 bill. Also my husband has lost his key before but someone turned it into his job. Key design is lousy. The "real" key comes loose too easy. Had 5 recalls which I have never gotten a notice for, just found out through the dealership. Overall we love this car and don't mind the extra $ for gas because we obviously don't drive it a lot. Good family car, love the navi! Could use some better features. road noise is loud, but we just turn up the radio!
Favorite Features
Navigation, roomy, sporty, color, sound system, good trunk area
Suggested Improvements
Tires (I would have paid more $ for the car to come with better tires) only able to use premium gas gets $$$, automatic door locks when driving, center console to big and easy to lose things!

Love the styling, big wheels, turbo engine, only had to return once for minor issues. Dislike premium gas, jerky shifting, poor sight lines, poor fuel economy, dash hard to see for shorter driver.
Favorite Features
Looks great. Lots of power.
Suggested Improvements
Make the transmission smoother. We were told "you will get used to it." Fix blind spot problems.

Very pretty head turner but not impressed. Horrible gas mileage and premium fuel need is painful! Peppy turbo has power but very jumpy/jerky. Pretty, sleek interior design but ZERO places to put anything with only a deep, dark cave of a console to fish through. Into shop already for headlight repair with 15000 miles on it. Stock tires are winter death traps. MUST purchase snow tires at $200+each or risk death. What traction control? CX-7 is all style but no substance! Don't bother!
Favorite Features
Bose stereo, style and look, drives like a car, lots of power when needed.
Suggested Improvements
Storage, storage, storage. Give me somewhere to put my glasses, my camera or iPod, spare keys or change, anything! Take a page out of the Santa Fe interior. Also, how about a USB port for iPod. Lose the premium fuel. Better ALL season tires! Oh ..and WAY overpriced!

Nice vehicle, few issues
Vehicle
2007 Mazda CX-7 Sport 4dr SUV AWD (2.3L 4cyl Turbo 6A)
Review
This vehicle has nice sporty performance, SUV or not. Good acceleration despite "turbo lag," which can be obnoxious. Quality interior, though somewhat bland appearance. Bose sound system very nice. Decent gas mileage, but premium fuel requirement is expensive - should have used V-6 which probably would have given same MPG with no premium fuel requirement. Braking is excellent. Ride is quite stiff. I needed to replace all four tires at just 18,000 miles. No other maintenance issues. Overall I am happy with this vehicle, but it could use a few modifications/upgrades.
Favorite Features
Stability of ride, acceleration.
Suggested Improvements
Replace turbo-4 with V-6 to eliminate turbo lag, and get similar miles-per-gallon with regular gas. Use better OEM tires. Pad armrests and console cover. Add adjustable lumbar support on driver's seat. Soften ride a bit.

Poor in the elements

Review
Purchased with 6400 miles, turbo model with all upgrades, interior should have full leather, road noise from tires is horrible, tires wear very prematurely, poor in snow, wind noise with 1 window open, dash is chintzy, front window needs tint, gas mileage is not as advertised, traction control is useless. Trade value poor also, this is my third Mazda, (my past Miata and Mazda 6 are much better cars).
Favorite Features
Bose is decent, drives like car, usually reliable
Suggested Improvements
Dash material, leather seats, front window tint, interior noise if a window open, tires! Horrendous should be replaced for free. Poor in snow, tires don't help, traction either nor turbo.

Review
This car is great. I have had it over two years. If you want great gas mileage get a car not a suv (especially one with a turbo). I get about 23 mph hwy. Never had a problem. The tires are poor but it's just that brand. I have two young boys and interior has held up wonderfully.
Favorite Features
Bose, heated seats, turbo, steering wheel radio controls(you can scan stations unlike what below says), and I like I can roll windows down w/ keyless remote.
Suggested Improvements
Automatic door locks.

Don't buy one

Review
I just traded my 2007 CX-7 for a 2009 Honda Accord. The worst part is the gas mileage. It didn't get even close to what it was supposed to, even when I put premium in it, it averaged 15 mpg on a really good day. Also, during the last two months in the shop with it 5 times. A valve cracked and leaked twice in one month & I had the same valve replaced twice. The light illuminated a third time & the fuel filler neck had to be replaced. I also replaced all 4 tires at 17,000 miles and was told by Mazda this was "normal." This cost me $800. Not to mention 2 recalls and cheap, boring interior design with crappy leather. Remote start also sucks. So happy with my new car and glad to be rid of the CX7!
Favorite Features
It does handle as close to a sports car as an SUV will get. You don't get a lot of body roll feel.
Suggested Improvements
Better OEM tires, improve gas mileage, fix whatever is wrong with engine that causes valves to fail. Also radio and climate control display is too small and red font is horrid.
