My A/C pully ceased yesterday while I was in another state visiting for the holiday weekend. What a nightmare with family and belongings in the car waiting 3 hrs for a tow truck. Dropped the car @ Huntington Mazda and called them first thing in the AM. My car was 5yrs old in April 2012 and only has 52k on it so I was hoping maybe Mazda would do the right ... Read More
I am having brake problems, but mine are a bit different than what's been discussed below. About a month and a half ago, the brakes on my 2009 Mazda CX-7 started getting "squishy" and weren't responding as well as they always had. Then, one day they stopped responding altogether and I had to pump the brakes to get the car to stop. I took it in and they said the master ... Read More
I own a mazda cx-7 2009. At 42000 the air conditoning compressor went bad. I called and took car to dealer and had a similiar situation. It cost $1,100. this wasnt covered under warranty as the car had 6000 mile beyond the 36000 maximum allowed. Total EXTORTION. If the compressor is going bad after 2 years there is obviously something very wrong with the quality of it. Customer service checked the ... Read More
My 2007 CX-7's VVT actuator supposedly was repaired according to the recall or TSB back in March of 2009. (I say supposedly because in trying to line up all my maintenance records I called the dealer where the work was done; they have evidence of the labor only, but not on the parts; this comes into play shortly.) Even after the repair, she always ran rich and other than ridiculously low ... Read More
I'm calling them now. Thanks for your help.
I would make sure the water pump // timing chain // and the VVT acuator are all replaced as long as they are going that far with engine repairs. Should all be covered under warranty for you.
I 'm not sure about the '09's, but I now believe that virtually all the 07's (what I drive) need the VVT acuator // timing chain // water pump replacement by 45,000 miles or so. Just had these things replaced at 45,000 miles under the 5year/ 60,000 mile "powertrain warranty." Only expense to me was a rental car for 1 day. Was noticing a slight "rattle" when starting the cx-7 and ... Read More
I have had the engine ticking and snap on starting up since I purchased my car. The dealership said "all the cars sound like that" and the snap is "the plastic parts adjusting to the temperature". I took my car in again to a different dealership and they tell me it is the VVT thing. After some research and reading this forum...I am scared to death of problems with my new ... Read More
Hello there. I currently own a 2009 Mazda 3 which I absolutely love so I have been looking at the 2010 CX7 for some more room. I'm a little turned off by the recommended premium fuel on the turbo model. I test drove the 2008 turbo engine and it was a blast to drive so I hope this year is just as fun. But my question is do you think I ... Read More
Mine has been rattling since I bought it brand new. Also I could hear a loud snap all on starting the engine. I have been driving the car for a year and 2 months and decided I wanted to have it checked again since the first place brushed me off with it. I have the same problem with my 2009 mazda 6 with Bose centerpoint pkg. The sound is muted for anywhere between 30 sec and 4 minutes after starting the car. with me the lights were active and all functions would display but no sound would come out also. I am waiting to speak to a service tech about the issue. It seems to be cold weather related as it was in ... Read More
brand new 2010 CX-7... 1 month old. I assume it just might be a diff smell than I am used to due to ... Read More
Mazda seems to be well ahead of the curve insofar as working out the kinks in the F/awd system but you seem to not need, or are not interested, in the F/awd model. That's just as well since the turbo motor seems to still be fraught with problems. I would NEVER recommend a FWD to anyone, and certainly not somewhat with the expectation of encountering wintertime adverse roadbed conditions. But I ... Read More
Hello, I am in the market for a new car and the 2010 CX-7 s Grand Touring FWD is very appealing with all the bells and whistles compared to some luxury vehicles I'm considering. I'll be the first one to admit that I'm a bit hung up on the vehicle being a Mazda and not a Lexus, Volvo, Infiniti, etc. BUT I'm trying to look past that. After test driving the ... Read More
After much research including using the Edmunds lease calculators, this sign and drive offer for a CX-7 i SV FWD seems like a very good offer (except that it is for 42 months instead of Edmunds suggested 36 months). Do you guys agree this is a good deal and is there additional room for negotiation in a national offer like this one? $299/Month Lease for 42 Months $0 Down Payment, $0 ... Read More
September 30 2009, Driving back from New Hampshire to Massachusetts, the inside of my Mazda CX-7 without any warning lights showing, started to fill with smoke and the power steering went. Mazda CX-7 Buyers Beware. I purchased a 2008 used Mazda CX-7 with 16 thousand miles on it in July of 2008. It is now September 11,2009 and I would like to spread the word to everyone that I can about the faulty compressors installed in the Mazda CX-7 vehicles. I own a CX7 GT AWD 2008. Great car, fun to drive and with 30K on the odometer. I havent had a problem yet. So far it is just a simple oil change every 4K miles. I sure do, eoseire. Well, 28K miles later my CX7-GT-AWD has been using regular gas and there are no problems. Dealer said you could use premium but it was not necessary. Only previous model require premium gas. You need to better inform yourself, the CX7-GT-AWD 2008 model takes regular gas, production models before 08, had to use premium. Mazda reprogrammed the engine and fixed the problem.
27K sounds about right for the GT with technology package based on my shopping experience. 21k for GT with bose sounds too good to be true even if its an 08. Was it AWD? I just got a touring AWD with bose for 24k +tax. I overpaid but I just wanted the car in that particular color.
just bought one for $27,350. shopped around NYC area. best deal i could find.

From the CX-7's transaxle to the rear the driveline is an EXACT duplicate of the Ford Escape, Edge, etc. That is incorrect. First, the Escape is 4WD, not AWD. Second, the Edge uses Ford's in-house built AWD system, similar to a Haldex FWD based AWD system. Mazda uses their own Active Torque-Split AWD, which is also a FWD based AWD system. So, they are similar in design, but they are not ... Read More

You're very welcome, maxglobin. I believe it is the same $3,750 that has been thrown around here for awhile. The bottom line is, there is still a fair amount of wiggle room in the numbers to get the dealers down several thousand dollars off msrp and invoice.

Hi could you let us know which dealer in NJ did you get this deal from please? Thank you...
This board has gotten kind of quiet, so I'll chime in that I recently bought an '09 Touring AWD, with the moonroof/bose package. In the end, I paid about $6,500 below msrp, and a little over $4500 below invoice price, so in line with what people have generally been getting over the past several months. Sorry if I confused you. Invoice price on a particular vehicle (say for example we are talking about one particular 2008 Mazda CX7, vin #JM3ER293480101103) actually never changes. Say our example CX7 came in Aug 2007 as a 2008 model. The dealer floorplans the invoice for that vehicle (lets say $22300). If that vehicle was still sitting on his lot today (yikes), 16 months later, surrounded by 2009's, the invoice price ... Read More

I agree, and I'm a bit surprised that the MP3 capability was only added now given Mazda is usually a pioneer in the audio arena. They went to CDs long before their primary competitors did, for instance.
