I have a 2008 that I am still paying for and was told the engine blew because of lack of oil changes. This is complete hogwash and am looking for information about a class action law suit against Mazda. If anyone knows how I can get involved. I have read hundreds of posting about the engine of the CX7 being a complete piece of china. Mazda mailed a letter stating they ... Read More
We bought a 2008 CX-7 Grand Touring on February 19, 2011 with around 26,000 miles on it. On January 30, 2012 (around 36,000 miles) the engine light came on and the vehicle lost all power. We took it to our mechanic to have it diagnosed and it came back that the Mass Air Flow Sensor was bad. We had that replaced, but it made no difference at all. The engine light ... Read More
I bought 2008 Mazda cx-7 used at 16,000 mile on it. Had oil changed couple times and at 35,000 mile and engine quit. I took it to dealer and told me that your engine is sludge up with oil and due to lack of maintenance warranty is voided. They will not repair under warranty. This is ripoff.
Guess I've joined the club.....engine shot at 72,000 miles, extended warranty will not cover due to "lack of maintanence" even with receipts. Since purchasing gently used in 2008, 3 sets of tires, no power, needed turbo sensor, clicking noise, sparks coming out of steering column, bad / foggy headlights, windshield seal causing major passenger side leakage, sludge and metal in the engine, whirring noise lasting for 3 minutes after shut-off. Can I please get a copy of the recall letter for the 2007 - 2008 CX7 AC problems? We have a 2008 that we purchased in Sept 2010, it has less then 36,000 miles on it (still under warranty) and it has started Smoking. It seems like 62,000 miles is a magic odometer reading for CX-7 engine failure. Our 2008 CX-7 experienced a complete engine failure at 61,996 miles. This failure occurred without any warning: the engine had not previously experienced any problems or made any unusual noises, no indicator lights had signaled a problem, and we had made oil and oil filter changes in accordance with the maintenance schedule. The failure created an extremely ... Read More

Hi. I am leasing a 2008 Mazda CX-7. My lease is up in a few months. I've had nothing but problems. Today, I was driving on the garden state parkway and my car starting screeching. Just discovered yesterday that Mazda does not cover the EGR on the 2007 model but it does cover the EGR on the 2008 model and up. This part is covered based on the adoption of other states using the California emissions standard. Using this standard allows the EGR valve to be covered for 60 or 80,000 miles. My dealer was not aware of this but another dealer and Mazda USA both ... Read More

I have a 2008 CX-7 and Mazda told me that they replaced my compressor last year so the recall shouldn't affect me, even though it's blasting out hot air when i put the a/c on. Should I bring it back again???
Mazda really needs to recall the air compressor on the 2007 and 2008 models. There are way too many complaints for the issue to be owners not taking care of their vehicles as one poster suggested. I'm a big believer in regular maintenance and my 2008 Mazda CX-7 (purchased in Dec. 2007) blew the air compressor this weekend at 42,000 miles. Luckily, I was not too many miles from my home ... This topic has been discussed endlessly. The fact is, since 2008 the turbo was tweaked (ECU and cat) to permit operation on regular gas, with reduced performance. The non-turbo version was introduced because dealers squawked about the poor mileage numbers. If you want the turbo's kick in the pants, then the small price differential on the fuel shouldn't put you out.

What was the dealer's reasoning for not wanting to cover the labour on your CX-7? It is still under full warranty unless you have a lot of miles on it. From the CX-7's transaxle to the rear the driveline is an EXACT duplicate of the Ford Escape, Edge, etc. That is incorrect. First, the Escape is 4WD, not AWD. Hey slw5, Good to see you are still around. I am the other owner you were referring to. It seems this issue only affects the 2007 model year using California's lower 91 octane fuel. I've been following the local pricing on the 2008 CX-7s since I bought mine a few months ago. One of the local Seattle-Tacoma dealers (don't recall which one) was advertising remaining GT's at $8,000 off of MSRP in the local newspaper last weekend. Also, those looking for remaining inventory may find the Mazda USA website a resource to search for inventory by zip code.
We have bought (see post a page or two ago), but I hear some Mazda incentives were completely "cut" on 2008's. Sounds like dealers had the option to purchase them (taking them off the floor plan) without titling them, getting all incentives applied, or staying at invoice minus marketing support on floor plan. Hi varloro. Don't feel too bad about leasing, it is not as bad a deal as you think. The selling prices of leased vehicles are negotiable, just as if you were paying cash for or financing them. It is important to negotiate as low a price as possible when leasing, because the selling price is used to calculate your monthly payment. The lower your vehicle's price is, the lower your lease ... After much disagreement with my wife, I finally broke down and leased a 2008 Mazda CX-7 sport for her {I don't "believe" in leases}.
