The engines are all the same in 2007. I named mine "misbehaving b****" for sharing purposes here. I can't believe you made it to over 100,000 miles without any problems. You must have gotten the one vehicle off the line that was built with better parts. Good for you. The rest of us are jealous. I would recommend dumping the thing while it still runs and you haven't been stuck with ... Read More
I'm a 2007 CX-7 owner (her name is Cici... :) bought new and have treated like a baby! I drive a lot and have 103,000 miles. This is my 3rd Mazda (had a millinia and tribute before) and I've been ... Read More
Just had the turbo replaced at 64,850 miles today. Brought the CX-7 in for an oil change and to diagnose a rattle-ling/clunking noise when accelerating on 01/02/12. Had the same issue with my 2007 in October 2010! Mazda dealership quoted me $700 for the repair! And since I had just spend $4500 to replace my out of warranty engine because of the timing chain busting (Mazda did manage to cough up $2500 since I had maintenance records) I decided to get a second opinion. Took it to a mechanic a friend recommended and he quoted me $250 for ... Read More

Not to defend Mazda-but why are you attacking wwest? Depending on the price point, the state where purchased, and from whom... used cars are "buyer beware." no warranty for the most part. It seems like 62,000 miles is a magic odometer reading for CX-7 engine failure. Our 2008 CX-7 experienced a complete engine failure at 61,996 miles. This failure occurred without any warning: the engine had not previously experienced any problems or made any unusual noises, no indicator lights had signaled a problem, and we had made oil and oil filter changes in accordance with the maintenance schedule. The failure created an extremely ... Read More

And then again the A/C compressor could be stalled/locked and it is the compressor drive belt generating all the smoke. That's a possibility. Im not a tech, but, either way, these CX-7's have had issues. No other Mazda in the last 20 years, outside the RX-8, have been plagued by such issues.

If your critical fluids are normal it sounds like the turbo has /or is going out It most likley is not the turbo. If the smoke is white, it's due to the PCV system, in which there is no fix for. Initially, Mazda was replacing turbos and testing them only to see they were fine, and Mazda discovered an issue with the PCV system. I believe the white smoke is built ... Read More

Christina: You never mentioned how many miles are on your 2007 cx-7. The MAzda power train warranty clearly covers the timing chain, VVT actuator, water pump and most all internal engine parts to 60,000 miles or 5 years from your in service date. How come the dealer didn't cover this under warranty?
Driving a 1st generation 2007 CX-7 (55,000 miles) and yes, just had the timing chain, VVT actuator (keeps timing chain tight) water pump, and driveline gaskets replaced. Mazda power train warranty covered everything except a rental car for one day. Upon a cold start, was hearing a little "chain rattle" and was fortunate to bring the cx-7 in for repair before catastrophic engine damage took place. I now believe al the ... Read More

MAKE SURE YOU ARE ONLY USING SYNTHETIC OIL THIS IS WHAT IS RECOMMENDED FYI. I USE ONLY MOBIL 1 SYNTHETIC OIL THE VERY BEST OIL. USE TO ... Read More
I agree! I have had nothing but problems with the 2007 CX7 we bought new to bring to Europe with us while stationed here. Since getting here the AC Compressor has gone out ($1,000 no warranty thank you), shocks, brakes, vent air, defroster leaks all over the floor, lights and alarms that go off for no reason, and now the darn thing won't start. I understand brakes and shocks...but the rest ... Read More

Good to know, thanks. Does anyone know IF bluetooth can be installed and used with the navigation PKG? (I'd like to be able to make phone calls and speak through the ceiling microphone used for the navigation commands and hear the person through the car speakers.) And approximately how much something like that would cost??
I have the 07 GT as well. That light your referring to is "accent lighting". It just throws a "blue" light over the radio/shift knob area. Your car DOES NOT have OEM BT.
I just purchased a 2007 Mazda CX-7 Grand Touring with the Navigation package. I called Mazda support center, they told me the 2007 model did not come with bluetooth. However, I have something on the ceiling (to the left of the cieling microphone) above the driver's head, which appears to be bluetooth. At night, it lights up with a blue light. It looks like bluetooth. The vehicle was leased before I ... Read More
