2014 Mazda CX-5 Touring 4dr SUV AWD (2.5L 4cyl 6A)
The car has a mix of good and bad features.
Not a bad car overall, but probably not the best SUV in this category on the road (at least for me).
It really depends upon what you value in a car.
If you value exterior styling, good gas mileage, and a decent engine you will be happy with this purchase.
If you value technology, ride quality, and comfort (interior components) you will likely be happier with the CRV or Escape.
I really like the exterior styling.
Gas mileage is better than I had expected (currently averaging ~29.2 with mixed driving).
Seats are firm and in good driving position, although lack of lumbar support makes long commutes and family travel uncomfortable.
Bluetooth technology and stereo features are highly disappointing.
Customer service is basically non-existant when technological trouble shooting is required.
Beware, if you have an iPhone it will not be fully functional with the CX-5 interface (no Shuffle or Repeat features on playlists, no text messaging, etc...).
I feel that the engine could use a little more power (I have the 2.5L engine) as uphill travel and passing power at highway speeds is a struggle for this vehicle.
Interior is a bit more noisy than expected.
Rear seats will not fold forward unless the front seats are slid forward.
Mazda is notorious for placing cheap tires on their vehicles (replace =20K).
Thanks for the honest review. I was seriously considering this vehicle. I drive a lot and my two main concerns are road noise and a good stereo. This seems to fail on both items. I shall move on.
