2014 Mazda CX-5 Grand Touring 4dr SUV AWD (2.5L 4cyl 6A)
The 2014 really addressed what was the biggest problem with the 2013, and that's the power.
The increase in power along with a couple of new electronic features for 2014 really make's one wonder if this isn't the complete package when it comes to small SUV's.
There are a couple of other SUV's on the market that may be slightly more comfortable, or have a more user friendly electronic interface, but the 2014 Mazda CX-5 seems to have it all at the price.
Interior materials, along with design, fit and finish are of a very high standard.
The vehicle is extremely spacious for it's exterior dimensions.
It has very efficient use of space for both passengers and cargo, and its looks are great!
My favorite feature is with all the creature comforts, AWD convenience, fuel economy, electronic toys and safety features, and it's unique sporty styling, it's just flat out fun to drive.
No other small SUV on the market gives a driver this level of command, handling, feedback, and responsiveness at this price point.
You'd have to move way up in the market (Porsche) to find a similar driving experience.
The only negatives I could find in the vehicle were the electronic system user interface.
It would benefit from a larger display, and some of the features didn't work well.
Using your music device plugged into the USB port instead of using it via Bluetooth forced the system to have to re-read and initialize the music player library and folder structure each time you started the car, which takes considerable time.
The navigation voice commands take some getting used to, and I found it's voice recognition to be sub-par.
For such a sporty driving experience, the front seats could have used a little more side bolstering in the design.
