Review
I wanted to get the wife in a larger and higher vehicle due to crazy traffic in Dallas,TX(drives a civic). I was very impressed with how much it drives like a car in that there is virtually no body lean. We wanted a SUV that you could get good amenities without having leather and this was it. The acceleration is very good when you want to speed up to get around someone. My wife initially liked the CRV more as you can see better out of it but you need to drive the car for the day and get used to the blindspot mirrors and once she was used to them it was hands down a much better driving experience than the CRV. I felt that in a year or so the CRV would be ho-hum compared to the CX5.
Favorite Features
Cup holders rubber pops out so you can clean it. Autoleveling headlights are awesome when you make a turn in a nonlit neighborhood(parking lot) you can see ahead so if someone or an animal is crossing the road you wont hit them, very worthwhile feature. Dallas area has a lot of HD radio stations and let me tell you they sound awesome and signal does not drop out. Keyless is nice that you dont have to take the key out of your pocket or purse. Quiet on the road(for what it is) we can have a normal conversation on the highway. We really look forward to driving with the whole family, it really is a fun vehicle where the CRV is somewhat bland.
Suggested Improvements
Read the fine print on the warranty, Mazda has a much more limited warranty than most companies. Its not a true bumper 3/36k more like 12/12k and powertrain is only for mechanical 5/60k. we paid 1300 for a 7/90k which should take care of sensors, radio, etc. Armrest is for tall people and I wish they had a sliding armrest like the civic and the accord have otherwise if seat isnt all the way back it doesnt have anyplace to put your arm if you are under 6'.Autoheadlight switch should be at the end not the first click otherwise when you pull into garage during the day the lights turn on for a second and that cant be good in the longrun.Headlamps arent cheap(xenon fusion)Bose needs a woofer.

Most importantly I forgot to add that we are getting 30-31 mpg. Average highway/city speeds here are 40-65 MPH. As an update the Bose system is sounding better every week as the speakers start to break in. Don't judge it by initial sound as it does get more rich in the mids and lows. Still needs a subwoofer but it works well.
