p100 is correct. If your clutch failed the symptom would not be the pedal going quickly to the floor and staying there. The pedal itself would feel quite normal even with a burned out clutch. So it's a hydraulic issue, not a clutch issue, we suspect.
Most likely the internal clutch master cylinder seals failed. This only affects the clutch release hydraulic circuit, not the clutch itself. The same thing happened to my car at 130k miles. Mazda 626 does not have the best clutch master cylinders or slave cylinders. You need to either install a new master/slave cylinders, or have them rebuilt. Then you need to bleed the lines to get rid of trapped air. Do ... Read More

I have a piece of Sh%t 2000 Mazda 6262 LX v6. I have the same problem. Take a look at the Emissions Control Valve. You can find the part for about $200 generally. As far as labor that depends on where you get it fixed.

One thing to consider is, if your car doesn't have an auxiliary transmission cooler, add one. It's about $200 installed by a Mazda dealer (maybe less if elsewhere?). A common problem with the 4 cylinder is the air ducting that is between the Mass Air flow meter and the throttle housing. You should check this for leaks, and cracks . Well okay if your temp gauge is jumping around, that is more likely a thermostat issue. I thought it was blowing cool air with a steady reading in the "normal" zone, which would be more indicative of a bad heater valve or air deflector servo or cable.
It is hard to tell what the exact temp is, as there are no numbers....however, it was running in the "normal" range (to the left of the center of the gauge). I think I have a similar problem. My 99 626ES V6 5 speed manual hesitates when I shift gears. The higher the RPM when shifting the worse it gets. Can produce similar effect by letting off gas without shifting and punching it again. I suspect a control problem but don't know if it's the throttle body, airflow sensor, CPU, or something else. A 113 code is IAT like you said. Check that sensor , circuit all wires , fuses etc. There is a way of cking it using an ohmeter and a hair blowing gun , but unless you know what you are doing bring it to qualified tech. My mazda had the transmission go bad twice, also it manage to get something go bad every 3 months. Ive only owned it for year and a half, bought it from my brother in law who was orignal owner, paid 4000 for it and spent 2000 fixin it when transmission died 2nd time sold it and bought a 2003 camry. man i hope no one else suffers that same fate.
I am thinking of buying 2001 Mazda 626 which has about 20000miles. The dealer price is $12K. Is this a good car. There are about 4 cars 2000 and 2001 626s around that price range. Pickup seems to be sluggish. Otherwise seems like a good car. Any comment is appreciated

I agree that the tranny problem is bad corporate policy, but how can it warrant a recall? People love tossing out the term recall when they have to pay for a major repair.
