Once on a freeway my mazda 626 1999 model car all of sudden died, in such a way that dash board lights and all electrical functions went dead and the car comes to a complete halt. Squealing might be your belt(s) slipping because of the rough idle. The rough idle might be because of a loose vacuum hose. I don't have this model 626, but there are normally lots of vacuum hoses on and around the EGR valve. Read More...

1999 626 coolant cap problem

I have a great 1999 Mazda 626ES V6. Yesterday the guys servicing my car told me that I needed a new cap on my coolant system because it was "missing the lower part". I just figured that they were trying to sell me a part so I said I'd fix it later. I bought a a new cap at the auto store. The new cap has a lift up release tab and a lower pressure seal. Hello Parell1234, One quick question: Does the O/D light "Flash" when on extended highway trips? If it does, you might have a "known" Mazda Service Issue. I have a 1998 Mazda 626 4 Cyl Automatic and for some reason if I am Driving at 70 mph and let off the gas pedal my O/D Light Flashes and continues to do so until I stop and turn off the car, let it cool for about 10 minutes ... It is the check valve inside the fuel pump. Just turn on and do not crank it for a few (6-8) seconds, then crank it, by that time the pump will have filled the line and it will start like magic! Read More...

I have 1999 Mazda 626, i4, 2L engine. It is stick shift. When I try to start the car, engine makes cranking sound on turning key but does not fire up. After doing the same thing, cranking for 8-10 times it fires up and then car rolls just normal. After the engine is fired up it do not have any problem. But it gives problems in fireing up. No sorry the "belt dressing" doesn't really work very well. You can try tightening the belt up a bit but if it is glazed from slipping you have no other choice but to replace it. But check the tightness by all means. Read More...

My car make screeching noise when it is cold and when you start the car in the morning. The noise comes from the belt. I used belt spray for a while, which makes the noise go away for a day but keep coming back the next day. Is there a permanent and cheaper solution to resolving this noise from belt.
