  My sister picked up a 1994 626 the transmission surges and the engine idles way too fast. she manages this by shifting up and down thru the gears.Neutral at stop signs and stop lights etc. Now the lock on the shift automatically locks on it's own, I am trying to help her with this problem.   Windowphobe6 can you solve my problem. 1994 Mazda Chronos 626 4 cyl automatic When I come to a stop sign the RPM goes from idle to Zero after a few seconds. I started my car this morning and it immediately went down to Zero . I have to keep reving it to keep it going .

  Who will jump in to help me ?? Well whomever he is I would love his help, before I go out spending a lot of money on guesswork . I have cleaned tha MAF with a computer sray can and looked at most of the wires. I am mechanical, but by no means a mechanic! Help :) PGP

  Well the problem is that the code doesn't mean these items are bad, it only means that these items are unhappy for some reason, which could be caused by something else (nice, huh?) . Maybe will jump in to help you here, he's a working tech, I'm not.

  After reading enough messages on the failure of the 1994 and later Mazda 626 CD4E automatic transmission failures, I am despondent. My transmission is spilling fluid from the vent. Am I really faced with a complete rebuild or is the replacement of the redesigned pump plate and gasket a smaller job costing less? (cf. Message 17). Would a flush perhaps cure this problem?

  Had troubles with Distributor (whole unit)--1300$CDN to replace. No alternative on the v4. Left me stranded in th middle of a road in a blizzard. Ford has a fix for the same problem on the V6. Lots of road noise Gear box (5spd) is stiff in cold weather Windshield has broken twice while turning Leaking Head Gasket

  In theory, they fixed the AT for 1998 and made modifications throughout 1994-1997. It still isn't up to the level of Mazda's other AT that they use in the V6.
