Mazda 323 Electrical Problems

MAZDA 323 1990 RUNS GREAT,QUITS,RESTARTS,INSTANTLEY!

Ok I have replaced the PCM,MAF,Fuel Pump,spark plugs distributer rotor cap,small stuff.The car will run great ..then go into a convulsive fit so to speak..and eventually stopp running(happens at idle to after car is running for while)My father thinks it may be the coil is getting hot then the car looses complete power and dies..just if you where to pull the coil ... Given what new cars cost now a days. A rebuilt tranny would be worth considering if the other maintenance on the car has been kept up. Many of these transmissions were 3 speeds. A 4 speed unit would be more desirable if gas goes back up. The only way to tell is whether or not yours has an overdrive on it. Finding a good used transmission for this year and model car may be like finding a needle in a haystack. If you do find one, you won't really know the condition of it to start with. If the original transmission wasn't serviced properly and coupled with most likely hard driving habits, automatic transmissions of any make will go out at 120,000 km. I would say shop ... Hi there, I was just wondering if anybody knows if there was a problem with Automatic Transmissions on 1990-91 Mazda 323's. Our son's 1990 mazda 323 has 120,000 Km on it and the Transmission went on it. So we were wondering if this was a persistent problem with this year. I have exactly the same problem with my automatic 86 Mazda 323 , the mechanic (young) is not sure what to do next Thinks it might be the carby but feels if we get one from the wreckers it might be just as bad. Did you get yours sorted out> Read More...

Is the 1989 Sedan much different than the 1990 Sedan?

Hi All, I'm trying to buy a manual for my 1989 323. But it seems that both Chilton & Haynes started with the 1990. Are the 1989 models that much different than the 1990+ models? I own the 1989 Mazda 323 SE 4 Dr Sedan, it has less than 80,000 miles on it so it's barely broken in. Hi all; I have been having a problem with my 1990 5 speed mazda 323. It seems to stall when I turn right. It began to do it only when the gas tank was below half. This is a message from experience. DO NOT BUY AFTER MARKET MODULES for your 323. The modules MUST be from Mazda. Our 323's Module died on us and we could not start the Mazda it was replaced by an after market module. The car ran for about 6 weeks and stopped. how many km's on a 1990 Mazda 323 would be too many ?? im trying to weigh my chances on a 173K for a 1990 std 323 against 167K for an auto 1989. seemingly most cars die in the 200K range which gives me abt a year and a half on both cars..wondering if anyone has more info. Read More...
