I am about to buy 2006 QP base model. I want to know whether all three models of 2006 QPs (Base, Sport GT, Executive GT) have received revised and software upgrade in gear box? I am worried that only sport GT got the faster gear change on sport mode. Is there any actual improvement in Gear changing and transmission on 2006 QP compare to former one? Also I found the "Fifth ... Read More
2005 is the first model year for the newly designed Quattroporte. If the way the clutch feels to you today isn't the same as when the car was new then it isn't normal. Take it do a different dealer is my best advice.
Yes, they are Pirelli Rossos. Sorry for the delay: I missed your question.
Blkhemi... if you haven't done so yet, read the entire Quattroporte thread on Edmunds. It's must-reading for anyone with interest: Maserati Quattroporte 2005+
Thanks, What type of tires come on the Q stock? Pirelli Rossos? I don't know because mine is in the shop. Also what other tires are good that will last longer for the 19" wheels? Thank you
I had around 11K miles when I replaced the rear tires. The front ones were still good at that time. I heard that this is a typical milage for any high-performance tires.
I can't speak for all dealers but the following is an example: 6,000 mile service $659 18,000 miles service $1,086 31,000 miles ervice $1,794 1st year - $856 2nd year - $1,105 3rd year - $1,202 Example, you drive 6,000 miles in 1st year your cost would be $659 + $856. Hope this helps.
Hi all, I'm glad this message board is going on strong. I have a few questions and concerns. I own a 2005 Q and have only 4500 miles on it. Well, it's at the dealer now and they're telling me I need new tires on the rear. For godsake I only drive it on average 8 miles a day and with day to day speeds not exceeding 40 mph. What is ... Dear bdeblanc the oil and lube are the least of your worries. I just had my 4th transmission fix in two Qs. Maserati has taken the low road by announcing they will not cover the replacement of a clutch in this car and the dealers do not disclose that this is a wear item. No, it's not an automatic transmission. If you can spare 2400 every 5-10k miles, you can afford ... Read More
Hello: I'm researching whether to purchase or possibly lease a maserati. Before I get myself completely attached I need to know: does owning a masarati mean that you are going to spend a fortune in maintenance and upkeep? Ie. does it cost hundreds of dollars for a simple 3000 mile oil change? I would expect it to be a bit more than the local Jiffy Lube's prices, but would appreciate any ... Read More
Steve, you've got some reading to catch up on. Not only the buff books but also the trade bible, the weekly Automotive News. The reason why Maser isn't selling isn't wheel base. It's the tranny. The auto trans (there is no stick) is awful with mucho slamming and banging. So much so that there are warranty problems and in general much anger. People think they are getting the equivalent of the ... Read More
I am fortunate enough to have a 2006 Quattroporte along with a 2005 Gransport. Both cars are an absolute dream, and I have had no trouble (with the exception of a new battery in the Gransport... covered by the warranty). My neighbor has a New 2006 M5 and I must say it is a beautiful car and it exhibits the same power curve (once you figure out how to put the ... Read More
I just wanted to chime in with my great experience with my '06 XJ Super V8. I am not a die hard Jaguar fan, have not dreamed about owning a Jag all my life. I did not intend to buy a Jaguar this time around. But having done so, I am really happy. Here is my story. I had owned a two Cadillac Eldorado STS from 1995 through 2000. I enjoyed ... Read More
Some interesting pics from a link in my monthly email from Maserati. I was somewhat delighted to read this about the Quattroporte's sales: Maserati's Quattroporte is dominating sales of luxury sport sedans over $100,000 despite and in part because of its limited production. American consumers are showing they appreciate Quattroporte's unique balance of performance, style and cachet by more than 3:1 over BMW's 760i and 760Li combined. The segment in which ... Read More
Check out this fascinating piece: European Touring Sedans in Their Native Lands. Edmunds.com President Jeremy Anwyl spends quality time with a 2005 Quattroporte and a 2005 XJR. He takes a spin through Italy with the Maserati and through Wales and England with the Jag. The story is compelling and the video is excellent. I had the good fortune to see the video lab in full swing producing this when I was ... Read More

Here's my take on the Quattroporte: I ordered one in May, 2004. Estimated delivery: March or April, 2005. Around Christmas last year, I asked the dealer for an official confirmation and spec sheet, because they said my car was about to be built. When they furnished the form, they had raised the price about $20,000 (to around $125,000) and wanted me to sign a form saying I would pay any future ... Read More
I would like to put this car up for discussion: 2005 Maserati Quattroporte http://www.edmunds.com/new/2005/maserati/quattroporte/100505998/p- hotogallery.html?pg_type=Sedan&imgsrc=%2Fpictures%2FVEHICLE%2F200- - 5%2FMaserati%2F100505998%2F20023048-T.jpg Would this be a candidate for a true luxury sedan? Why or why not?
"Can you provide your views of the Chicago auto show ? I am sure you'll have a lot of interesting viewpoints at what's going on in the auto world. Looking forward to reading your report. In the middle of all of this I've almost forgotten what I saw there!!!! Well I must preface this with the fact that Chicago isn't what Detroit is in presentation or brands represented. Chicago ... are they anyone (I highly doubt it) out there that are actual owners of the 2004/2005 Quattroporte? Is it a solid, replacement for a Mercedes S-Class or BMW 7-Series? My main concern with the Quattroporte is the reliability (Maserati being a small company with only one other production vehicle....)
"The blown M-B 5.5L in the E had better be waxing the Ferrari 4.2L, or M-B would be doing something seriously wrong. However, the Ferrari powerplant has got SOUL. The Benz, with its plastic engine cover, is just an appliance, handbuilt or not." Compared to Italian cars...gulp(!) yep! Being a fan of Italian cars I have no rebuttle. Defense rests...lol. What I'm waiting for is Maserati to adapt VW's DSG to ... Read More
sorry. I pressed post by mistake. 2005 Audi A8L 4.2: great looking car, but doesn't seem that have the "characteristics" of a flagship sedan (styling...) I don't know. 2005 BMW 745Li: I must be the only guy out there who really appreciates Bangle's styling. Was horrified at first, I must confess, about reliability issues and BMW's iDrive. I am considering one after the "refresh". 2005/2006 Mercedes-Benz S-Class: I am looking most ... Read More
Here is the link for Forbes' review of the 2005 Maserati Quattroporte they just broadcast - http://www.forbes.com/2004/02/09/cx_dl_0209feat.html. It appeared just before I saw merc1's review from Chicago and especially his time with the Quattroporte. I found the following quote very interesting "... Maserati is gunning for BMW. When designing the Quattroporte, the company hoped to emulate the driving dynamics of BMW's M5 sedan and the content and features of BMW's 7-series ... Read More
Anyone considering this car? I received a special invite to see it up close and personal at the Chicago Auto Show. Can't wait! Not sure why they picked me, as I'm not even close to being a buyer, but there the invite was. I did get to see it from behind a railing in Detroit. I find this car to be very different and a much needed breath of fresh air ... Read More
Just curious to know what the group here thinks about some of the new luxury debuts at Detroit. It appears that Audi is going to step to the major leagues with the new A8L 6.0 W12 by the end of the year, it will priced around 115K. Yikes! Double yikes because the Phaeton W12 (10hp less btw) is priced at 88K. On paper it makes the Audi version look like a ... Read More
