|
Brake linings & rotors:
Brake linings, shoes, or pads are parts of a brake system bonded to an expendable friction material that, when hydraulically acted upon, create enough resistance to stop a vehicle. A brake rotor is the metal disc that rotates along with the wheels to which the friction material can be clamped in order to stop or slow movement.
Brake master cylinder:
A device that stores brake fluid and hydraulically forces it through the brake lines to the brakes when the brake pedal is depressed.

CV joints
|
$ |
2.74
|
CV joints:
Constant velocity joints, which are located on either end of the drive axles and transmit engine power while enabling full steering and suspension movement. Black accordion boots cover and protect these joints and hold lubricant.
Cabin air filter:
A filtering system that meters out pollen, road dust and other particles before they can reach the passenger cabin.

Clutch pedal
|
$ |
4.56
|
Clutch pedal:
A pedal located on the floor of the vehicle to the left of the brake pedal that, when depressed, disengages the clutch from the flywheel.
Coolant:
Also known as "antifreeze." A mixture of water and ethylene glycol that has both a higher boiling point and a lower freezing point than plain water.

Coolant, hoses & clamps
|
$ |
6.85
|
Coolant, hoses & clamps:
The flexible tubes that carry engine coolant and the clamps that hold them in place.
Cruise control:
Any device that automatically maintains a vehicle's speed as predetermined by the operator. Most versions have minimum and maximum speed limitations, and are deactivated by either a brake pedal switch, a clutch (on a manual transmission), or a manual on/off switch.

Drive axles
|
$ |
4.56
|
Drive axles:
In a front-wheel drive vehicle or a rear-wheel drive vehicle with independent rear suspension, the short axles that connect the driven wheels with the driving force. Drive axles typically have CV (constant velocity)-joints on their ends.
Drive belt(s):
A belt that transfers the rotation of the engine through the crankshaft pulley to drive various devices, such as the alternator, water pump, air conditioning compressor or power steering pump.

Engine oil
|
$ |
13.24
|
Engine oil:
A substance that lubricates and cools the moving parts of the engine and reduces corrosion and the formation of rust.
Exhaust system:
A system of tubing that routes exhaust gases from the exhaust manifold to the rear of the car and into the air. The exhaust system includes catalytic converters and mufflers that help reduce air and noise pollution generated by an engine.

Fluid levels
|
$ |
2.28
|
Fluid levels:
The amount of liquid in reservoirs and sumps accessible from the topside of the vehicle: engine coolant, automatic transmission fluid, windshield washer fluid, power steering fluid, brake and/or clutch fluid, and engine oil.
Fuel system:
The assemblage of parts that stores and delivers fuel for the engine, including the fuel cap, fuel tank, fuel lines and hoses, fuel pump, fuel filter and fuel injectors or carburetor.

|
On-board diagnosis system:
A computer-controlled system that identifies malfunctioning or out-of-adjustment components under its control through the display of trouble codes. The presence of trouble codes is usually indicated by an intermittently or constantly lit "check engine " or "service engine soon" light.
Parking brake:
The mechanical brake connected by cables to either a ratcheting hand lever or foot pedal used to hold or apply a vehicle's rear and sometimes front brakes while left unattended or under conditions of hydraulic circuit failure. Sometimes referred to as the emergency brake.
