I had that issue on my 99 and it was water coming thru the firewall at the hood release cable. The issue under the hood on the passenger side by the fresh air vent is a common one with these cars going back to the early 90's.I ripped out my interior as well to dry it out.Once the area around the cable was sealed there were no more leak issues. My current Lincoln,2006,has ... What a coincidence: Engine Surge When Braking--I have a 2006 Lincoln Towncar... The answer also includes mention of disconnecting the booster for troubleshooting. He's right, but it's VERY hard to brake without the booster, so be forewarned.
We bought a 2006 Town Car about 2 months ago and are having the same problem. Ford dealer said the car had warped rotors and "fixed" the problem. After that I crashed into another car because my car kept lurching as i was braking. My husband also had the same problem and narrowly missed hitting 2 people. Lincoln dealer cannot find a problem. Did you find out what was wrong with ... Read More
Reading the Owner's Manual is a very good start. Reading the Maintence Schedule booklet is also recommended. Recommend Mobil 1 for the engine. If you just got the car, check all fluids for quality and quantity. The engine coolant will need to be replaced now if it hasn't been. Air filter?
I recently picked up a 2006 Lincoln Town Car Signature ..60,000 klms . This is the first time I have owned a Lincoln so I am not sure what to expect. Is there any of you that can save me a buck by enlightening me as to what to watch for driving this model and year .. so far it the nicest ride I have owned !
My 2006 Cadillac DTS has a nice looking aluminum wheels that are much easier to clean than my 2005 Town Car. Many thanks for giving me the tire track web site lead. I did look and was very impressed with the offerings. My only concern would be that If there was a problem after installation that there might be a hassle about who was responsible and if unresolved would not be ... Read More
29 MPG is a regular average for me in my 2005 T.C. in highway driving. I am light on braking if there is no one behind me which I'm sure saves fuel and brakes. My DTS gets around 26.5 on the highway but weighs 400 lbs. less than T.C. I use regular fuel in T.C. and premium in DTS. At 29 MPG average I really don't feel I need a hybrid ... Read More
Why don't you simply ask the dealer whether he can order one? If he can't then that answers the question. There are plenty of 2007's around as well as 2006's. Nothing has changed on them. Ford has a market for these cars in the livery business. There are hundreds of them just in the New York City area. Apparently Ford could care less whether or not you buy one because they ... For a while this forum was so quiet that I only occasionaly checked to see if there was anything new but now seems to have sprung to life and hope it stays that way! My 2005 Town Car, a Signature Limited does not have a tachometer, my DTS does but don't really look at it that often so have mixed feelings about the need. My DTS has a bunch of electronic ... When I start my 2006 Lincoln TC you can hear what sounds like water dripping under the dash. The carpet remains dry. The dealer doesn't seem to have an answer to this problem. It is very annoying. Does anyone else have this problem, or can answer what the noise is?
If I floor the accelerator on my T.C. there is an approximately one second delay until the power reaches the wheels I have also noticed this on a few Grand Marquis I drove before deciding on the T.C. The power delivery on the Three Devilles I have owned including the present DTS have been almost instantaneous. I wonder if this is a characteristic of Ford power trains or what may be ... Read More
I found my 2005 Town Car Signature limited in July of 2006 through a car newspaper ad. There were quite a few used, recent model Town Cars at Autotrader.Com last time I checked (few months ago). Many were low miles and recent models with relatively low prices, suggest you look at the web site and listings. Am uncertain about whether Ford will continue the Town Car Line but would suspect even ... Read More
Great news! Where did you find the information, is there a web address you could share? I have had no real problems with my 2005 Signature Limited but my 2006 Cadillac DTS has been a big disappointment in that it has had multiple electrical problems and so far no accurate diagnosis. May end up that if I continue to want two luxury cars in my garage they will both be Lincolns. ... Read More
I hope someone will post information on a 2007 Town Car but just in case they don't I will share this. owning a 2005 has been a very good experience for me, I also own a 2006 DTS which was bought new about a month ago. I had some problems with the new DTS, defective battery and electrical problems. I bought the Town Car in July 2006 with 17,000 miles on ... Read More
According to my Lincoln dealer the 2007 TC will be coming out in the fall of this year. It will be on a Montego platform but much more luxurious with front wheel drive. He said the reports were that it's a great looking car. No other details about it are known except it won't be the same size or configuration as the 2006. I suppose more info will be leaking out ... Do you know if anyone has actually received a refund from Ford? I took my receipt and signed legal document to the Lincoln dealer here on January 1, 2006 to file a claim. I have not received a response from Ford. Do you know if there is a phone number or e-mail address where customers can determine the status of their claims? The dealer here stated that once they submit the ... Read More
I have visited several Lincoln dealerships lately to look at the 2006 Town Car. While looking over the 2006 model, I was told that Lincoln is planning to put the 2007 Lincoln Town Car on a Volvo frame and change the car from rear wheel drive to front wheel. Have any of you heard or read about this?
I've heard that the 2006 TC will have a redesigned interior and freshened exterior - anyone see any pix of this? I get automotive news magazine and have not seen a thing. I would assume that the Crown Vic and the GM are also getting updates in 06. The changes (not all of them expensive) that could make the Town Car really special again: 1. Increase the wheelbase to around 120" ... Read More
Kinley, I really can't discuss personal experience with the dealer because I've never needed anything done on my vehicles that relates with me having to take it into the dealership. When I've needed new tires, I'll do Sears. Oil change (when I remember), on my own. So I couldn't give you a confirmed answer. Personally (wild guess here), if it's an emergency sitation such as being stranded 100 miles from the ... Read More
A response to both of you, ANT & Kinley, yes I actually have considered and tried both. My partner has a Volvo S-80 T-6. Actually, I bought it for him, he isn't a car guy. He loves the car, even though it's been a bit more trouble prone than he was used to in his GM cars he always drove before. (His Dad sold Cadillacs in Rochester, NY). When he goes ... Read More
When I speculate, I'll state it before the sentence... like "I do think they should offer the 4.6L DOHC", while "although a 5.0L (bored out 4.6L) will definatly" is information that you might call local knowledge. The reason these vehicles (TownCar, CrownVic, GrandMarquis) arent getting much attention, is because they pretty much have paid themselves off. The platform (while intensively re-engineered last year) is Body On Frame, and that doesn't appeal ... Read More
Not at all true. The Town Car and Navigator are being reengineered for 2003. Lincoln has the new Aviator for 2003. The LS will also be updated for 2003. A new Continental, probably on a stretched LS platform, is planned for 2005, along with a restyled LS and possible convertible for 2005 or 2006.
