Hi, Don't know if this will help but I have a 2000 town Car and it kept stalling after starting and after some time it would run okay. The problem turned out to be the Air Intake Valve. It was a fairly easy fix and not too expensive. Hope this helps. happy riding. Kevin

If you have a lot of miles on the car, check out the quality of the air by pass valve located behind the air filter housing.

2003 Lincoln Town Car Stalling Problem..
Written by: d0rothy on Aug 3, 2006 2:06:41 PM
Here is how it happens. I drive it to a shopping mall, stop the car, go shopping, when I come out, the car promply starts, but stalls. If I start it again, and let it run at a 1000 rpm or so for a while, it might then idle and run fine. 2 weeks later, it might do it again, except it may not go away. I, then drive the car ... There are a series of step in your owners manual that you can follow to remedy all of those issues. I own the same vehicle (actually several of them) I have never had a problem with reseting the oil %. Maybe hold the button longer??

When I complained of brake pedal overtravel on my 2003 TC, the dealer suggested that I back off the pedal position from the full bottom position. I did so, and the brake pedal has a more firm feel. If you have your adjustment all the way down, you might try that.

Your manual should tell you how to reset the oil life indicator. It's usually a combination of buttons that you push to do it, just like de-programming the horn chirp.

euphonium, thanks for your reply. I have solved the Horn noise by checking the Owners book. You can discontinue that feature by going through a set procedure with the key in the ignition and pressing the remote door lock switch. As for the seat belt dinging indicator, you can trick it by starting out with the seat belt on while the car is in motion. Once your under way you can ... Read More

You can silently activate the alarm by using the driver's door outside keypad. Press buttons 7/8 and 9/0 at the same time twice. A considerate feature when you don't want to wake the neighbors. Seat belt not fastened/annoying dinging noise. My guess is there is a sensor connection under the seat that could be disconnected, but of this I'm unsure. If your seat belt is too short, you can buy extensions. ... Read More

Can't argue with that logic. I think the 4.6 is a good engine but like you say it is a ford engine used in many applications and doesn't produce the power of the 4.6 caddie engine. The 2003 and 04 towncars have dual exhausts which is why they produce 239 hp instead of the 210 for the 2002.The sound from the exhausts are quiet which indicates they are still restricted from ... Around here, new Executives are advertised for $29,995. I have heard that Lincoln does intend to come out with a 300hp TC. I also heard that it will have a center console making it a 5 passenger car. Can anyone verify any of the above? Many of us love the TC, but it will never gain market share until FORD offers at least 300hp (even as a performance option). Not at all true. The Town Car and Navigator are being reengineered for 2003. Lincoln has the new Aviator for 2003. The LS will also be updated for 2003. A new Continental, probably on a stretched LS platform, is planned for 2005, along with a restyled LS and possible convertible for 2005 or 2006.
