Lincoln has really hit the mark on the freshened '03 LS. Over 500 changes according to the news release. For a vehicle that will probably be all new for 2005, the improvements on the interim '03 LS are major. The VVT on the new motors places the LS squarely in the middle of its competition in the luxury sport sedan market. As a 2001 LS Sport V-8 owner myself with 32,000 ... Read More

I had dealer replace passenger side B-pillar cover due to flaking. No problem, except that replacement is more complicated that it looks, so plan to leave car for one day and be sure the part is in stock. Mine is a 2001 LS with a December, 2000 build date. Good luck! As a Mania II and III attendee, I sincerely appreciated the the trust that the Lincoln LS team showed the ... Read More

Can't remember which one, but one of the many articles that had links posted here last week said the 2003 LS official intro would not be until November. The 2005 Mustang is supposedly built on DEW-98 "Lite" platform, which is a cost reduced DEW98. I don't think Ford could sustain Mustang sales if it based >$30K. I'd expect the "Lite" platform to loose the fancy forged aluminum suspension bits with stamped ... Read More

Chicago Tribune reports today that "05 Mustang will be built on LS chassis, have 400 hp and a six speed transmission. They pictured a spy photo of a test mule '02 Mustang with a raised hood, supposedly to clear the supercharger option. If this combo is certified, maybe the LS will benefit from some of the common pieces...or maybe this combo is being developed by LS engineers and the Mustang will ... Read More

Why is everyone assuming negative things with the realignment ? Geez, for the last two weeks everything has been "woe is me". I prefer to look at this as a good thing. Here's why: 1. It frees Lincoln to be whatever customers expect of American Luxury. This time it's not a means to "brand" Lincoln differently within PAG. This time it's what will sell vehicles. 2. To say Lincoln will move ... Read More

I posted on the Marauder chatbox a while ago that, in my opinion, the LS should have been a Mercury product, not a Lincoln. I think the Aviator also should have been a Merc as well. Then, Ford could put the performance emphasis on the Merc brand and the Luxury emphasis on the Lincoln, including the Navigator. Entering a Merc dealer and seeing a Merc LS, Merc Marauder, and Merc Aviator ... Read More

FREE AT LAST! THANK GOD ALMIGHTY WE ARE FREE AT LAST! BON reports on a Financial Times article dtd Apr. 11 that Lincoln is about to be kicked out of the PAG Group. Maybe with Dearborn management, the LS won't have to play second-fiddle to the S-type and we can have the improved or even better goodies. Or Lincoln could change the stroke and do a 4.0 or a 4.1 L just to be different from Jag. Somewhere (Autoweek?) I read an interview with a high up Jag person. He made a point of saying that they at Jag. were very proud of having "their own engines", that is engines that were not shared with other FoMoCo products. He also said that they intended to keep it that ... Read More

I'm including a rather lengthy email response that the club received on behalf of one of our members who has a Japanese LS now in Canada. Our member wanted to know how to get a replacement right-hand drive windshield as well as changing the instrument cluster readings from Japanese to English. While I have edited out the email addresses and parts of the Lincoln LS management teams names for obvious reasons, ... Read More

You guys are incredible. A year ago the LS was wonderful, a great value. An american made BMW for $10K less. Now all of a sudden it's trash, second rate, way behind the competition. The car hasn't changed. The competition (true competition - $30+ RWD luxury sport sedans, not Sentras) hasn't changed that much, has it? I don't shop for vehicles based on 0-60 acceleration figures.
