This car SUCKS! I have had nothing but problems with this hunk of s**t. I have had it for 5 years I bought it with 98,000 miles, it's got 210,000 miles on it now and nothing works. I have no heat - and just paid two hours labor at $81.00 a F**in hour for them to tell me they don't know what it is. I had heat untill my radiator overflow ... Read More

I have a 2002 LS. I have had and am still having ignition coil problems. It actually sets the check engine light on - it's a "clyinder misfire" at least that's what it's called on my car. Yeah it's a V8 so there is 8 seperate coils! at $95.00 EACH. I have replaced 4 of the 8 with Ford parts. Now I have a cylinder #7 misfire. But my car has ... Read More

Hello, My heat sucks too in my Lincoln (LS 2002) Idk what's up. It all started about two years ago when I had my radiator power flushed, (supposed to do as part of the "maintenance") All the crap in there made my thermostat stick so I had to by a new one. Ever since then my heat sucks! I live in New England and I need heat! I start my car ... Read More
Found a mechanic who braised the end where it was spilling fluid and then my husband said he put a "T" and went around. I really have no idea what that means. The mechanic is in Pine Bluff Arkansas. It is not perfect as it has a very small leak now but it the car is driveble.
Might be a good time to try switching to an electric fan if the steering is ok.
We tried several machine shops and a couple of places that do hydraulics but no one was able to make it. Please let me know if you are able to find someone. We can't anyone with the part to order.
I have the same problem with the hydraulic fan pressure line. My wife is heading to a place here in boise to try to get it made. Fluid connector producs.. I hope i can have it made. I cant afford 352 dollars.. I will try t o see if they can make it. I will post later if they can make it..
I need a hydraulic cooling fan hose, that is what Ford called it. According to Ford dealer we called the manufacture of the part and Ford are fighting over the price of the part. Ford says they are charging to much so they stopped making this part. Dealer said he could put us on a waiting list but there is no telling when they would start making the part if ever ... Read More
I have a 2002 lincoln ls v6. I need to replace lower control arm bushings. Can I use the jag s type for the v6 like it said you could for the v8. And how would I go about doing it- I've located a place to buy the bushings only. Thanks
Could you please explain further on Problem #3? We have a 2002 LS V6 and are putting in the electric fan but the pump has a leak so we must remove it and need to run the belt in same general location. If you have pictures that would be great but any explanation on this side of the belt problem would be great.
Did anyone anywhere respond to your problem? We have a 2002 LS and are switching to the electric fan but we have a leak in the HFC pump so we cannot just loop the intake and out hoses. Actually the V8 is a Jag design but made by Ford in a Ford plant. It's significantly different from the Jag version in the Stype. The engines themselves are bulletproof - both the V6 and V8. Only the valve cover gaskets and COPs were faulty.
It's the other way around. The V8 models are more reliable than the V6. The V6 is a Ford Engine the V8 is made by Jaguar. Really depends on how well the car was taken car of. The V8 has plenty of power not sure how well a large car like that will run on a V6. Adequate I suppose. I guess it's up to you. Have a mechanic check it ... Read More
My 2002 LSE with the 3.9 V8 has been giving me one issue after another. Nothing much for 1st 100K miles but ridiculous for last 5K miles. Anyways, I've had both the coils replaced (December) and fuel pump go out (last week). Today, there's an issue with Advancetrac. I'd dump this thing now but we're in need of replacing our '98 Explorer first.
You need to get a good mechanic and stop throwing money at the problem. Take it to a Lincoln dealer who understands the vehicle. Did you replace the COPs (coil on plug)? There are 2 fuel pumps - did you replace both?
So I have had this 2002 Lincoln LS for 5 years and since about 2 months after I bought is with 35,000 miles, I have been experiencing a delayed start. Hi Micheal, I'm having this problem with different temperatures comming from pass and driver side. Cold air from passenger side and hot air from driver side when trying to drive with the a/c on. Would you guys recommend getting the V8 or the V6? There is a decent power difference, but only 1MPG difference in gas mileage... What do you think you would choose between an '02 LS and an '02 Acura TL Type S?
Could be a bad FEM (front end module). I believe that controls the overhead light and windows.
I am having an issue with my windows rolling down after the car is turned off. Sometimes they will roll down immediately. Other times it will be hours after the car is turned off. Thanks a lot. Would the COPS cause the engine light to come on? It didn't come on when the problem initially started, but was on the next day. Steering controls are the clockspring. A/C problems could be DCCV (dual climate control valve) which controls heat and a/c for the driver and passenger sides. TH hesitation and missing could be the COPS coil sits on the spark plugs, and failures are common. All of these problems are common on the LS.
Numerous problems with the LS I purchased used less than a month ago with about 70,000 miles. First thing I found was none of the controls on the steering wheel work 100% of the time. Hi, Just got a quick question. Just bought a 2002 Lincoln LS. Can anyone tell me where to find a repair manual? Does Haynes make one? I'm utterly surprised to see how hard it is to find one. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks!
I bought a '05 LS last year and haven't had any problems with it. I think the newer ones are much better than the 2000-2002 models. Still, they definitele aren't as reliable as a Lexus. The $8000 price difference will pay for a lot of repairs, so I guess which do you really want? After driving mine through a Wisconsin winter, winter tires are a real good idea. :D

Expect around 17 city, 25-26 hwy but that's on premium. Not a huge difference, but not small either. That price sounds a bit high - I think you could get a better one for less than that. 2000 was the first year and had some teething problems (heated seat elements, window regulators, etc.). Do you smell gas when it fails to crank right away? Could be a leaky injector. The climate control issue is a known problem - could either be the blend door or the control module. Probably best left to the dealer to diagnose and repair.

It's not Volvo - it's Jaguar that held Lincoln back. The LS was slated to go to Europe - that's why we had a manual tranny until 2002. But the strategy changed - probably thanks in part to Volvo/Jag/Aston Martin in Europe. Now they have their sites on Buick. Another wasted opportunity. Anybody remember the Merkur Scorpio?
