You can pick up a new coil pack from any advance auto/autozone type store for $53 or so. Don't overpay for the Ford part. Also - if you change them yourself - just make sure the plug well doesn't have any oil or moisture in it - that is what causes them to misfires.

Is it smoke or steam? It might just be condensation in the exhaust - if so it would dissipate very quickly. If it sticks around then it sounds like coolant which would most likely mean a blown head gasket. Check the oil for milky fluid and/or check the coolant for oil. You can also get a compression test done.

We have a 2000 LS V-6 with sport package with 115K miles that we are selling. We just bought a 2008 Accord EX. The LS drives very nice on smooth roads. In city driving, you feel the car's weight, and when the road gets rough, the LS gets rough. LS is not a nimble car. My 2001 E430 at 3750 pounds feels like it is a 3200 pound car. The LS ... This happened 2.5 years ago and you're just now following up on it? Yes, there was a recall for a potential loose nut or bolt IIRC. Was that the cause of your wheel failure? No way to know for sure. 7 years is a long time. Who are you going to sue? Not sure you'd be able to prove liability and even then you'd only get the amount of the repairs. ... Read More

Is that a trick question? Fix the leaky hose and refill it with the proper antifreeze mixture and make sure you bleed out all the air. The A/C problem might be unrelated. If the radiator fan is working and it's full of coolant and you've replaced the thermostat correctly and it still overheats then it might be the water pump.

My guess is it's the serpentine belt. That belt drives both the a/c compressor and the water pump IIRC. If it came off then that could have knocked off the coolant hose also. Without it you won't get any cold air and the engine will overheat quickly. You should also get a check charging system light and eventually a dead battery since the alternator won't work either. Easy enough to check. ... Read More

If you were to provide the VIN, I could tell you when/where/mileage the recall was completed, provided your vehicle was ... Read More

I agree with akirby that it sounds like an internal problem... The symptoms are somewhat odd given how the transmission is designed (see below). For 1, 2, 3 to work requires that the front 2-speed gear box actuator is functioning and that the middle 3-speed gear box is shifting between 3.25:1 and 1.53:1. If the 3-speed can't switch to gear-3 but remains stuck in gear-2 (1.53:1) then D4 will be 3rd ... Read More

Well they could have put it on the V6 and just plugged it on the V8. What's the big deal? All the owner's manual needed was a footnote. If both transmissions are externally the same casing, then the engineer's excuse seems rather lame to me. I think the real reason is that manufacturers are moving to "sealed for life" components. We may even see the sealed engine pretty soon.
