Summary

What Edmunds.com says

Just the thing for the country-club set; a useless pick-em-up that's no good at carrying cargo and little better at shuttling people.

Pros

The security of a covered truck bed, a plethora of convenience features, upscale interior materials, load-leveling rear suspension, built-in towing hitch.

Cons

No four-wheel drive, pretentious image, tacky fake-wood on truck bed.

What's New for 2002

For 2002, Lincoln introduces this cross between a luxury SUV and a pickup truck. Essentially a dolled-up Ford F-150 SuperCrew, the Blackwood offers a truckload of creature comforts and safety features but not a lot of utility.

Review

Big, roomy, dependable, attention grabber, etc. etc. I have 40k miles and have had zero problems. Guest love the back seats. It's just a heavy, well contructed and cool truck.

Favorite Features

back trunk is cool

Suggested Improvements

Gear for hauling instead of speed. It's not a work truck!

Review

A great vehicle with great ride. The vehicle has an enormous amount of luxury and a exceptional sound system. The navigation system is great as well as the heat/cool seats especially with leather seats. The bed of the truck is too shallow and the gas mileage is average. Overall, a great vehicle with lots of space to include both leg and head room.

Favorite Features

Air conditioned seats, stereo sound system and electric tonneau for the truck's bed.

Suggested Improvements

Could have a deeper bed, driving lamps and be able to drive the vehicle with the tonneau up.

Review

Loved the vehicle when it first came out but could not afford until used vehicle available, purchased 2002 in 2006. Still in excellent condition with 82,000 miles. Gas mileage around town 17.5 highway 21.0, acceptable with all of the amenities. Love the design, extras, and handling. Not a work truck but does haul groceries, golf clubs, suitcases and some plants, etc.

Favorite Features

Stunning appearance and the looks you get when you drive down the road. The GPS, cooled and heated seats, DVD, remote door locks, remote lid control, sun/moon roof, steering wheel controls, fold-in mirrors, power and handling.

Suggested Improvements

Rear window that opens (like on the Sport Trac) otherwise it is great, wish they had stayed in production.

Review

I bought my Blackwod in June 0f 2002 and it was love at first sight. I tow my 30 camper with no problems. The best part is even after 4 years everywhere I go people still want a private tour. I actually considered trading for the 2006 Lincoln Lt for about 10 seconds. No comparison

Favorite Features

Heated and Cooled seats. Distinctive exterior appearance and cargo area. FUN to drive.

Suggested Improvements

You must be kidding

Review

It definitely is not a typical truck or car. Its sort of a new catagory. What it is is a truck with a trunk, a very large trunk but, not too deep. It'a blast to drive. It handle quite well for a 5,900 pound vehicle. Everything works just the way it should. I think you'll enjoy this ride.

Favorite Features

I love the DOHC but I can't figure out why it doen't produce more horsepower. It probably has the potential. With a nice set of duals and a little tweaking in the performance department it sounds and runs with the best (even the HEMIs).

Suggested Improvements

It is very plush but, Lincoln could have done alot better. After owning 6 Town Cars previously I know of alot of features that could have been included with the Blackwood. For instance why in the world didn't Lincoln install floorboard lights inside the cab; lighted running boards etc.
