  We own a 1999 LX 470. We experienced a "low, grinding" sound that occured only upon starting to move forward. The dealer at first couldn't replicate the sound. Over time, it got worse. Finally,the dealer replaced our entire transmission.....but the noise persisted!!It turns out that we once had our car serviced at a Toyota dealer because we were out of town, and there wasn't a Lexus dealer within a couple hundred ...   I thought that my 1999 LX 470 would last forever, well at least longer than my 1985 El Dorado. It has turned out to be more costly than my Cadillac in repairs. I went over the 75K mark in Sept, just under seven years and everything has fallen apart.   I tested a 99 Range Rover before I bought my LX470 a week back. To put it mildly, it was a horrid experience. It drove like a truck, rattled and creaked, and the plastic parts looked cheap. After some years of hankering after one, that single drive was enough to put me off completely.   True, the later models look so much better aesthetically, but their poor reliability offsets any advantage ...   What's my '99 LX 470 with 69,000 miles worth? It's in great shape, inside and out with Nakamichi, etc. Newer tires, all service on time and at the Lexus dealer... Also, were there any issues with these trucks, chronic problems, etc. I've had none, but my buddy who's looking to buy it asked me. Thanks

  I haven't figured out the pricing on the certified pre-owned LX 470's. Sometimes the same Lexus dealer has same year vehicles with a lower mileage vehicle being less than a higher mileage vehicle and both are loaded?? Both are like-new?? Does anyone know if they negotiate much on the listed prices? Will they throw in additional years on the 3 year/ 100K mile warranty the C.P.O. vehicles get? I will hit ... Read More
