Been the Lemon Law route. Failed. They were so impressed with the LS, they could hear nothing. Total waste of my time. Your noise is high pressure injector noise. Comes and goes. Lexus won't fix it because they don't know how. Like everything else that goes wrong with the LS. I sold mine three months ago. Got tired of hearing the same answers every time I took it in for something. ... Read More

  • 2010 LS 460 idle ping engin noise

Written by: barrysanta on Aug 29, 2011 8:47:23 PM

My LS 460 has 9600 miles on it. Since 1000 miles it has had a ping at idle..600rpm and up to 1000 rpm. It comes and goes. The sound is more like a high pitch "teek teek teek" above the normal engine noise. It sounds like it is coming from just in front of the firewall. Almost like a rattle or precombustion....or valve lifters or transmission bypass valve knocking. Ive had ... Read More

In September 2009, as the 2010 were about to arrive, I paid $900 under invoice for a 2009 LS460 at Lexus of N. Miami Beach. I searched the "net" for the dealer with the most LS 460's left over. They had 34.

Boy, was I glad to find this discussion and the question about the LS 460 Sport seats -- but wish I had checked here before buying mine! Let me tell you: they are hideous, just hideous. Who could have thought that this could happen with the top-of-the-line Lexus? Bought mine in September (my wife and I have owned Lexuses since they arrived here) and sitting in the driver's seat is not ... Read More

I have driven the new 2010 AWD version of the LS 460. Have not yet driven the new LS 460 "Sport' and do know what to expect of it (though I see that Lexus has yet to offer AWD on this). My hopes for a new Lexus may depend on what it has to show me. I also wonder, and would appreciate comment on, whether there are suspension, handling, drivability differences ... Read More

Have had my 2007 LS in many times for this problem. They always give me the same answer. No service bulletins and nothing shows on their computer. Cannot duplicate the problem. Evidently, they have known it was a problem for a long time. Foreign material? Who are they trying to kid. These are valve springs, not fuel injectors. Isn't it interesting that they will not recall 2009/10 LS models. When exactly ... Read More

Thanks furnman1. Lexus' lease program on the LS 460 is actually pretty good right now. I believe that its money factor on this car is the lowest that it has been all year. You might be able to get a better money factor on it by waiting until Lexus' annual "December to Remember" sales event to lease one, but perhaps not. This car's residual values might have dropped so much by ... Read More
