Lexus LS 400/LS 430 Starting Problems

I have the same problem with my 2003 Lexus LS 430. When I turn the key to start the engine I have to hold it in start position for a few seconds (while there is no noise from the starter, initially I thought the battery is dead), and then it starts. When I bought it, a month ago, when I was turning the key all the way it started, without the ... Read More

I had the same concerns when I purchased my 2002 LS 430. I spoke to other owners at the dealership. All said the same thing, "don"t worry about it". I live in Cleveland where it is snow on top of ice on top of chuck holes. I run the tires it came with, summer tires, push the "snow" button on occasion, and drive off. • LS 430 Trunk Strut Replacement - Persistence Pays!

The Los Angeles, Ca. online BBB: http://www.labbb.org/BBBWeb/Forms/Complaint/ComplaintInformationPage.aspx?sm= was a big help. I recommend them to anyone who is not getting satisfaction through the dealers or the Lexus Customer Satisfaction 800#. But, to be fair with Lexus HQ's, make sure you have a legitimate situation (as I believed). While Lexus Corporate denies improvement of the engineering of the LS 430 trunk struts (more "gas force pressure"), my wife and I both agree ... Read More

He is well known and has a good reputation. I want a 2003 LS 430 white, w/Nav and less than 35k miles. I have a price in mind (around $35-36k). I had an 03 - it was just about perfect. I had only 2 repairs - the Lexus Link had repeated faults that they could fix for a while, then it would start faulting again. And the telescoping steering wheel got squeaky after a while, the Universal Joint knuckle was replaced. It was a great car, can't think of any reason you shouldn't love it. :P

I agree with the post, "suggest you look for a 2004". The 2004, 05, and 06 were nearly the same product. The early production 2004s had a recall and replacement for the transmission and fuel pump. As for "White", the Lexus white never had the "pearlesence" like some GMC products. I thot the white was more of a metalic white and very good looking. I thot I preferred white, then I ... Read More

I picked up a brochure today at Ray Catena Lexus. Unfortunately they didn't have a car on the lot which surprised me given they are such a large volume dealer. Apparently some of the cars seen so far are making their way from dealer to dealer in advance of the Sept. 24 debut. The current LS is not fairly new. It was unveiled in January 2000 at the Detroit Auto Show and went on sale in the fall of 2000 as a 2001. It is now entering its fourth year. Lexus does not have long model cycles. Typically their cars run for five years, with a cosmetic freshening in the fourth year. So, what Lexus is doing follows their history. If there is any hint of veracity to the rumors, why would Lexus make changes to the LS 430 so early? The car is still a formidable competitor to the S-Class, 7-series and Q45. I'm thinking that Lexus would wait until the fourth model year of the generation, probably fall 2004, to make any dramatic changes. Lexus probably has the legacy of the LS already planned. Starting with the second-generation, Lexus ... Read More

I think that Lexus is feeling a bit behind by still having the car produce only 290hp vs. the 315+ of the Q, 745 and new E500, although it gives more torque than all the others and can beat most in 0 - 60.
