I have the current problem with my Lexus LS 400 1994 and I was quoted $1000 to repair. They said that it would start effecting the actual engine if I do not repair it soon. Now that I see that you had it done for $600 I better start checking around, Thanks
My dashboard lights are flashing. I need to know how to correct this problem. If anyone has valuable information please feel free to share, please. thanks!
I have similar dash problem. How did you have it fixed for $600? Where? My dealer quoted me $1000 for the new board and $500 for installation. You got a great deal!
Hello there, I have a Lexus 1993 and whenever I drive, the dashboard light will sometimes goes off, and comes back on. It fluctuates but stays off most of the times. It really doesn’t bother me during the day but at night. I cannot even see or know how many miles I am going most of the times at night. Please does anyone experience the same similar problem and what can ... Read More
Had similar problem with my '94 Lexus LS400, but not with the ODO. My problem was when it's cold, the dashboard is completely black, but it flickers on sometimes when I've been running it for awhile. Ended up replacing the instrument cluster for $600. The guy that replaced it says it's a common problem.

Go to www.cartalk.com and check on their reputable repair shop target. People have registered their good mechanics there - you may find one in your area...
Try the Verizon Online Smart Pages using "Lexus Service & Repair", but they don't make themselves easily findable. Try your local Chamber of Commerce web site and e-mail them where you can find one. Of course, you could always give away on chat rooms the town that you live in and maybe someone already knows of a good one there. Good Luck.
i def appreciate the advise guys, and I am going to have a fit about all these dumb tests they keep doing and is costing me over $1000, to be honest the car was given to me for free so I can complain about that, but I just had no idea what I was getting myself into, is there anywhere I can find these little independant shops? Everywhere I tried to ... Read More
I agree with "wwest": "I think you're being "jacked" around on the emissions." But, I wanted to add that your local "shop" does not represent all Independent Lexus Service & Repair shops. Many do have all the equipment needed to figure out why your car is failing the emissions test. These reputable independents owned and/or operated by former "Lexus Certified Master Mechanics" would probably charge you less money, overall, than dealers ... Read More
Insofar as rate of acceleration the early LSes at 248HP were not stellar performers. Put on a lot of miles, say 150,000, and the torque converter is getting a little tired. I think you're being "jacked" around on the emissions fix but I don't have any answer otherwise.
ok guys here is my situation and i am in dire need of some help, I totally understand that lexus is an expensive car peroid. I just got a 93 ls 400 and it needed inspected, well I take it to my shop i usually go to and they fix everything for inspection but it fails the emissions test, now my shop cant fix that since they dont have teh software ... Dear Paul29, You & the other forum members who replied to my problem were a lot of help & inspiration. I thank you all. What I think I should do - since everything is pointing to the starter itself - is take the car to my mechanic and have him access the starter to find out if the contacts are dirty. If they are, I'll ask him to clean them & ... Read More

Not sure where to turn, but I need help. I am the proud owner of a 93 LS 400 with 106,000 miles and runs like a champ. Now we need a second car. A Toyota dealer has a 1993 SC 400 with only 25,000 miles on it. They want $15,000. I went by to look at it. It was in good shape in and out. A few scratches, etc. This car ... Read More
The current LS is not fairly new. It was unveiled in January 2000 at the Detroit Auto Show and went on sale in the fall of 2000 as a 2001. It is now entering its fourth year. Lexus does not have long model cycles. Typically their cars run for five years, with a cosmetic freshening in the fourth year. So, what Lexus is doing follows their history. Compare this to Mercedes ... Read More
