The Lexus IS350 offers the best of quality and performance. It is fast, stylish, comfortable and it is, above all else, a Lexus. No squeaks, creaks or rattles. You'll find other reviews that pan the IS350 in favor of BMW 3-series handling. That may be true, but I drive my IS on the interstate and around town, not on the track. I want creature comforts and quality craftsmanship in addition to performance. So while BMW aficionados may have the "handling" argument won, everything else falls in favor of the Lexus.
Mark Levinson stereo... Amazing! Heated and cooled seats. Automatic wipers. 306 HP.
Permanent override for traction control. AWD for 350 model
In reality it's too early to tell if this car is going to be a winner... good, reliable transportation with a decent fun quotient. My TL trade in was almost that but the car just lacked personality... Still in the honeymoon/break in period so I haven't really wrung the car out but my experience this far suggests that this car is going to be a 10... reliable and fun to drive.
Build quality, power, great looks... never thought I would own a red car but check out the Mica Red whatever they call it in the sun... really eye catching.
Install a cut out switch to deactivate the electronic co- pilot feature. Really would like to run a few hot laps in the thing without big brother stepping in and getting involved.
Purchase a 2006 model, nothing compared to the old is300, the handling is very loose, the interior dash quality is very flimsy, getting rattles, pick up is very poor, does not feel like a 300 horsepower car. Seems like Lexus is going backwards in their performance.
Back up camera, bluetooth
Better build material for dash, engine needs to sound and drive like a 300 horsepower car.
It's 306 hp is enough for most but a 6spd manual won't be a bad idea to complement it's power. the reason why I'd rather have a manual tranny is for one reason alone... it just take too long when downshifting. Also, the VDIM kills the fun right away when cornering aggressively. Other than that I think it's a perfect car.
its nav system.......and of course it's mighty powerful engine.
If you're buying a new car and don't mind an auto, this is a perfect car for you.
I bought the IS 350 because I thought the seq. shifter would be cool. I was wrong. It got annoying after 2 weeks. The shifting feels sluggish due to that the underlying tranny is still an automatic. It may look fast, but underneath the body-kits is only a 105 hp engine. The crappy tranny ruins the 306 ponies. In the luxury dept it also lacks. The ride is sacrificed for the handling. So if you are looking for a plush ride, look elsewhere. The plastic on the instrument panel feels like hand-me-down Toyota parts.
