2006 Lexus IS 250 Sedan 4dr Sedan AWD (2.5L 6cyl 6A)

Review

Paid $26k for AWD, Certified, with 30k miles. This is my first car ever purchased. This is a sexy, fun to drive car. The selection process is simple. Pick your power 200hp or 300hp, Navi/No Navi & pick your colors. Many safety features the average Joe wouldn't notice. Bad posture & fat rear/gut = car seems small Common problems that have solutions: -Small back seat - buy a GS -Brake dust - low dust ceramic pads -Horse power - give up AWD for IS350 RWD & 100H

Favorite Features

Paddler shifters, fuel efficiency 28- 30 mpg, 6 disc changer heated & cooled seats, ECT modes, AWD, rims, self tinting mirrors, seat pass- through, trunk tie downs, system check monitors, front lamps light up surrounding lanes of traffic, exterior sensing lights, vanity mirrors for the misses

Suggested Improvements

-Remove Ash tray in center console & and in back seat -A very loud crack noise happens when the dash expands and contracts,(just mine?) -Little tough to see out the back with with the headrests. -Paddle shifting lag is a bummer

2006 Lexus IS 250 Sedan 4dr Sedan AWD (2.5L 6cyl 6A)

Review

Great daily driver for northern climates. I love the AWD option. Goes through deep snow better than 90% of cars. Comfortable front seats (heated and air-cooled), wheel cntrls for blue tooth + stereo, hands-free Nav, and backup camera add to driving fun & convenience. Use "pwr" setting on tranny or paddle-shift for added performance; "snow-mode" for better control in slippery conditions. Ave. 25.8mpg combined city/hwy over 30K miles; and clocked 33mpg hwy on 500mi trips(very good for AWD car). Dash rattles fixed early on by dealer. Still waiting for wrnty fix to mirror vibration and rare "burnt oil" smell thought due faulty dipstick. Still good OEM tread and brake pads. Tires could be quieter

Favorite Features

Comfy front seats, AWD, hands-free phone connection, reliability, "solid" feel.

Suggested Improvements

Fix the rattles in the factory first ! Softer suspension for pot-holed roads. Routine mainenance costs too much. More "back seat" leg room, without changing front seats or front room. Better quality (quieter, smoother) OEM tires.

2006 Lexus IS 250 Sedan 4dr Sedan AWD (2.5L 6cyl 6A)

Review

Have approximately 60,000 miles on car bought new from Lexus dealer in 2006. Tires have never held pressure, always have to refill tires every month or so. Original tires had to be replaced after only 15,000 miles. Lexus was no help - claimed OEM tires were "high performance" tires. Now on 3rd set of tires. Overall build quality does not measure up to quality in Lexus models further up the food chain. Have owned 2 earlier Lexus models, this will be my last. Bought a used 2006 Infiniti M35X that now has over 130,000 miles on it with zero problems - I'm switching to Infiniti!

Favorite Features

Smooth ride, good fuel economy and quiet interior.

Suggested Improvements

Do the right thing and come clean with Lexus owners about the serious tire/wheel quality flaw. This car has serious problems maintaining tire pressure and wears out tires quickly without any aggressive driving.

Review

I purchased this car used just this year. It is the 2006 model, with just over 200 k miles- Purchased from lexus dealer whom it was traded to from the original owner. I think this car is so slick and still going strong because the owner always had it serviced @ lexus and they were able to resolve anything during the first initial years. I did have it sputter on idle twice, but just gave it a little gas and it was fine. Car feels like it is glued to the road and in snow and ice/blizzard conditions- the AWD didnt even slip. It's a bit tight on the inside for my 6'2 frame- but i feel like im in a racecar so it's all good. No car manufacturer makes a perfect car. but toyota hasn't failed me

Favorite Features

Looks good (most important!) Reliable (so far 2 213k miles)

Suggested Improvements

small interior- tuff for tall people this car has gotten a bad rap- i love it so far though- haters gonna hate!

Review

My wife's 2006 Lexus IS 250 with only 20k miles already needs, according to Lexus, over 19 new parts to make it run right. The front brakes, on the other hand, is my second problem. They squeak loudly and leave a heavy coating of dust on the front wheels after only a few miles after washing it. In the morning when the car is cold they seem to grab too quickly and cause jerky stopping. The quality of this car is not what I expected. When I contacted Lexus they told me they were going to fix the problem under the hood but not the brakes because it had too many miles on it.

Favorite Features

The exterior visual. It is the only thing that is nice about this car.

Suggested Improvements

Bring the quality back up to what the public expects.
