Vehicle2013 Lexus GS 450h 4dr Sedan (3.5L 6cyl gas/electric hybrid CVT)
ReviewIn most respects, the GS450h is an excellent car. It inspires confidence and drives fine. But, there are two features that are unacceptable to this buyer: 1) Unless you purchase the Luxury pkg., you can't get the LED headlamps w/AFS. The regular bi-Xenon headlamps provide minimal illumination and are worse than any we've ever had on our Lexus autos; 2) Lexus claims that this car gets 34MPG average. While brand new, it only got 30.4 MPG. With less than 9K miles on it, this winter, we've gotten 29.2 MPG!. I'm on top of air pressure and I don't gun the car. So, it's not me; it's the car and Lexus's misleading claims.
Best FeaturesPerformance, handling, interior finish.
Worst FeaturesInstall LED head lamps w/AFS as a regular feature Improve windshield wiper design so that it doesn't streak at the points. Revise MPG claims and don't mislead customers. Radically improve the navigation and phone voice commands system: It consistently mis-hears our voices, even when simply placing a call. Improve interior lighting, as well as trunk light.

Uhhhhh.......the ratings are 29 city/24 highway/31 combined. You said you got 30.4 MPG overall. And 29+ for a few months is still in the EPA rating window. That will go up in the summer. Looks like Lexus did it's job. While you, with this review, not so much. You might want to revise your rant, or actually read the sticker before you buy a $60k car. Actually complaining that a 338 HP two-ton luxury car is ONLY getting 29 MPG? Really?Report it

empoweredbc: you made very good points. A lot of people buy cars without doing research or reading the manual. Some expect GS450h and LS600hL have the same gas consumption as a Prius but little they realize that the purpose of using a hybrid technology wasn't saving fuel but rather performance and exercising different forms of technology . I own an LS-430, and a lot of people complain about its navigation. I actually spent 30 min reading the darn thing, and it has been very intuitive since then. But of course, people complain that it is confusing. My advice to them is if you are not willing to read the manual or do research on the prospect cars, don't waste your time and money buying them.Report it
