Hi Folks, Considering a 2006 GS300. My driving is around 60% highway and 40% city. My 04 TL gets a combined 24 mpg. I'm hoping the GS300 will do even better - getting around 27 mpg. Is this realistic? does the GS 300 require premium fuel?
I own a 2006 Lexus GS 300. I have had many of the same problems as others regarding tires (replaced four at 15,000 miles) and rattles in the dash (most started after the warranty ran out). My local dealer is the only place this car has ever been serviced. All oil changes are completed every 3000 miles by the dealer. My car currently has 59,000 miles on it and at the ... Read More
I have the same car, and pretty much the same experience. Out of frustration I stuck a sock between the dash and windshield on the right hand side, and 90% of my dash noise went away. I've been driving this way for 5K miles or so, and some of the squeaks have come back, but many have not. Whenever I bring it in for service I tell them to not touch ... Read More
I used to love GS, like you I had a GS 300 1998. I loved it 160k miles. I recently bought the GS 2006 model and WOW the features. But I was in a fender bender and a nissan altima suffered minor bumper damage while my car suffered $10,000 damages. The car is made much thinner and crumbles. Consumer reports said its Lexus worst model for body integrity. Not Safe I ... Read More
Please see my post on poor low beam illumination in the "Lexus GS 300/GS 430 - 2006+" topic. I'm curious to hear whether others agree that this is a serious problem.
Rodagu116, I've had my GS300 AWD w/18" wheels & low profile low-flat tires pulled from the GS430 since Feb. '07. I now have a little over 7,300 miles. I assume you have the standard 17" wheels & all season tires that come on the GS300 line. If so, I am surprised you are experiencing the same "tracking" issues I experienced the first 6 months of ownership. I say this because, I ... Read More
I just purchased a "certified" pre-owned Lexus GS about 10 days ago and have complained almost from day one that the tire noise is really bad (worse than my cheap 2001 Chevy Impala). I also complained about the car tending to veer left or right in quick jerks while I am trying to keep the car going straight. I also noticed that the road (minor bumps) can cause the steering wheel ... Read More
I don't know whether to feel happy or sad! Lexus keeps telling me that I am the only one complaining. I,too, have a 2006 Lexus GS 300 - 18 inch wheels and have had constant steering problems. In 16 months (24,000 kms) the car has been in the shop 7 times for corrective steering problems. The Lexus dealer swears that it's only the bumpy roads where we live, but you are constantly ... I have put on winter tires without tire pressure sensors and I am getting a "Check System" error message along with assorted flashing error messages. Lexus dealership says nothing they can do, put black tape over the flashing warning light. Does anyone have any ideas??
Reading through these messages I realized the 2006 GS 300/430 pricing is now a mute issue because it's been heavily impacted by the new 2007 GS 350. Why? You buy this luxury car for performance, quality and residual value. Well Lexus, in a complete brain cramp, released the new GS350, with 22% more HP, for the same price as the old GS300. Problem is it beats the GS 300 and actually ... Read More

I was wondering if it is possible to add the Lexus PDC system to my 2006 GS 300. The button is there and I have heard that it is already pre-wired. Any input would be great.
I just bought a 2006 GS300. The bluetooth has about a 3-4 seconds delay to display a connected call so I don't know the other person has already picked up the line. Also, when another party calls in(via Call Waiting) while I am on the phone, as soon as it hangs up, the entire call is disconnected or dropped. Does anyone know the solution to these problems?
I have the 2006 GS300 but I know someone else who installed the OEM 18" 5 spoke 2006 GS430 wheels/tires on their 2006 GS300 AWD with no problems. All 2006 GS 430 and 300 18" style OEM wheel styles have the same 45 offset. Got my OEM 5 spokes from an out of state Lexus dealer as "take offs" for a very good price. I took my 2006 GS300 to my ... On the topic of satellite radio antennas, Lexus will soon start routing the satellite radio connection through a shark fin antenna mounted on back of the car's roof, which the GS in Japan already has (this can be seen at www.lexus.jp). This will first be seen in April on the GS 450h. The 300 and 430 will then get the antenna in the fall of 2006 as 2007 models, although at ... Read More
Hello everyone, just wanted to share my buying experience. Just got a 2006 GS 300 AWD. I got the Navigation, ML system, ventilated seats, rear sun shade and moon roof. During about 2 months of negotiations I got the best quote from Oakland California. But then during the last minute, they backed out because I live in another state. I was very upset and challenged this and they simply ignored me. ... Read More

Love my new 2006 GS 300 AWD. One suprise is feeling road bumps/joints more than I (my wife) expected. One Lexus guy consulted warned that such replacement would screw up the suspension system for the AWD that was tuned to work with ... Read More
You were right to stay away from the Mercedes. I just traded in a gorgeous 2003 E320 Mercedes (it looked like brand new) for a 2006 GS 300. Lexus should have brought both the GS 350 and GS 460 out now. All GS 300 competitors have more poweful engines like the M35 and E350 which just came out. Even the Avalon has a 280 hp 350 in it. I believe that the GS 300 will have solid initial sales. Although many on the forum are close to suicidal due to the lack of the 3.5 engine, I bet that most prospective GS 300 won't have a clue that such an engine exists, or care. Just checked the lexus.com site and they list the current GS300 0-60mph time as 7.8s. Comparing Lexus to Lexus numbers for the pre 2006 GS300 and 2006 GS'300' vehicles gives us a 1 second difference to 60mph. Is the new 6sp tranny and electric valve tricks (220hp to 245hp)enough to drop it from 7.8s to 6.8s?
