I purchased a 2005 ES330/new... had it in for service 4 times. The transmission always felt like it was missing when slowing down and then accelerating. Once you got going it is a very smooth ride. Apparently the design is flawed. There is a computer chip that needs to refresh, which is fine if you never yield or slow down to go around a corner. The dealership offered a new ES3 50..with extra cost... but I just purchased a 2007 530i BMW.
Work on that computer chip...the change from a cable to the computer chip began in 2003...too many bright people out there to not come up with a better design.
We wanted a car that would make long trips easy. The ES 330 does that in style. My wife can't stand the cup holder. She drives it to work and needs her coffee. Since Katrina the traffic has gotten worse than ever. I am glad she has the comfort and safety of her new car while sitting in traffic. I find the tires transfer noise to the cabin. Our car had to have the radio replace shortly after purchase. Over all I am very happy with our retirement road trip transportation. PS. ours is gold and my 4year old grandaughter has gone on several trips with us and thinks Goldielocks is fun.
Creature comforts and ergonomic style. The CD changer holds 6 volumes of AM Gold
I've been wholeheartedly disappointed with the ownership experience. Dealer "acknowledges my problems" but states "Lexus has no technical fix". Problems are transmission surging when accelerating from a near stop (say, 5 mph) following speed humps or in stop/start traffic - caused by computer controlled throttle and wind noise from driver's mirror. Also, dash & door rattles that come and go depending upon outside temperature. From a brand ranked by many as being of high customer satisfactory rating, I personally have been wholeheartedly disappointed with the ownership experience. I truly want to love this care but remain frustrated with Lexus and Toyota. Expected more for the money.
Fit, form and finish are nice. Ride is good.
Lexus must fix the acknowledged problems with the computer controlled throttle in this vehicle. I've learned this has been a chronic problem for several years with no fix. Wind noise from the driver's mirror has been described as "normal" yet no noise is heard from the driver's side mirror.
