I own a 2004 ES 330. I have about 28,000 miles on it and have owned it since August of 2004 (I bought it new). I have had too many problems to list here, but I will list what I consider the worst costomer service issue. The dashboard vent on the passenger side did not seat properly. After about 500 miles of driving, the vent falls out. Every time the car ... Read More
As I have said before, I am tired of being told that I am the problem. All cars have oil. Do all cars have a built in hesitation to "protect" the engine? I understand that you may not notice the problem, or may view the hesitation as not BEING a problem. However, I view it as a problem. If expecting my 2004 Lexus ES 330 to drive and perform at least ... Read More

Numerous investigations going back many decades have consistently suggested that these incidents were unrelated to ... Read More
The only complaints at your NHTSA place I could find for ES 330 had to do with child seat restraints. For hesitation in both Lexus and Toyota there was one for 2003, a couple for 2004, and the rest were for 2005. There were a few duplicates too where the vin numbers were the same but the complaints were posted on two differtent dates. I counted them as one complait.Maybe I ... Read More
Hello, Could anybody give me some advice on purchasing a certified pre-owned Lexus. I am looking at a 2004 ES 330 that is at the dealer with 16,000 miles and they are asking $29,900. Thanks
I, too, was in the same boat. I even looked at a 2004 ES with 3,500 miles at Carmax. They wanted $31,000! For another $1,000, I got my 2005 ES from the Lexus dealership. It sounds like you got a better deal than I since you have everything except the navi. I assume you have the upgraded sound system? My price went from $35,200 to $32,000 in December.
Found the post in the Transmission Problems in ES300 discussion. #404 of 670 Extremely Surprised! by nogermancar Jan 29, 2004 (11:18 pm) Reply I am extremely surprised to hear that Lexus 2003-04 ES300 or ES330 owners are still having problems with their transmissions. I bought a 2002 ES300 and felt really frustrated with the way in which Lexus dealt with the whole issue. I had some very weird experiences ... Read More
How many out there with a 2004 or 2005 ES 330 have a defective transmission? Is it a very widespread problem? My third Lexus is a 2004 ES330. It is the worst car I have ever owned. When you lift the foot off the accelerator, the car slows rapidly. Three times I nearly got rear ended. Then at about 18 mph, it jumps and goes into a normal coasting. Lexus says this is "normal". But it does it to varying degrees. Sometimes not at all. How can that be normal? Friends that ... Hi all, Just purchased a 2005 ES 330 for $32,000 as part of the December to Remember sale. Why does the dealer have to duplicate the sound before they try to fix it? I have exactly the same problem with the same dealer response. Why can't they take your word for it and attempt to correct the problem? My dealer told me that it was a problem with all 2004 ES 330s and they were waiting for a service bulletin from Lexus.
I have a 2004 Lexus ES 330 and have a rattle in the front passenger seat for months. It usually occurs at about 60 miles an hour. I have taken to the dealer 3 times and they can not duplicate the sound. Therefore, there is no attempt to fix it. Has anyone else had this problem and had it fixed?
I bought a 2004 Lexus ES 330 less than a year ago. The paint is coming off on the hood and both fenders. We've never seen paint flake off like this unless we hit a deer, had a repair and a ... Read More
The transmission in my 2004 ES is the worst one I have ever had. It is sluggish, slow to respond, shifts up and down frequently. I have 5000 miles now and can truly say that I regret this car purchase because of the transmission. ... Read More

Am looking into buying either a 2004 or 2005 Lexus ES 330. Really need a dependable, comparatively trouble free car. Has anyone had good or bad experiences with the 2004 as I think I could probably get a better price. Have been driving a Catera and am in the Dallas, TX, area.
Hi igiban, Regarding: "Have you ever experienced tranny symptoms on any ES from 02-04, and if so do you feel it on 05?" That's a tough one. Before I actually test drove a 2004 (but waited for the 2005), I did alot of research. I read many of the complaints on the various forums, spoke with a couple of folks that have the 02 - 04 ES300/330, and spoke with a ... Read More

To the best of my knowledge, the free 1K Lexus service involves nothing more than a check of the car to make sure everything is in order. Hi, folks. My husband and I are negotiating with a dealership for a 2004 ES 330. The salesman is insisting that we must pay a $563 "advertising fee" as part of the deal. There is no way the ES 330 will be going up in price $1200-1500. The car was essentially lowered by that amount for 2004 since the previously optional leather was made standard. I would really appreciate hearing the comments of owners of the 2004 ES330. I delayed buying a new Lexus to replace my Camry (although I have been very happy with my 2000 ES300) because I was concerned about the transmission issues in '02 and '03. ES330 owners, what is your experience? I see at least one happy owner, but I'd like to hear from more of you. Thanks!

Yes, because leather is now standard an ES 330 is about $1,400 less expensive than an ES 300 was. However, this is in keeping with Lexus tradition of doing something to add value.
