Test drive impression
By bencheerios on
2011 Lexus CT 200h 4dr Hatchback (1.8L 4cyl gas/electric hybrid CVT)
This review is based on a 20 minute walk-around and test drive at the nearest Lexus dealership. The model was a used 2011 Base trim w/o satnav. I could definitely see myself driving one; the styling, nameplate, fuel economy, and green points are the biggest selling points. Compared to a 2012 Ford Focus SE sdn, the powertrain feels weak and the CVT does make the engine noisy because it spends more time at higher RPM's. These are the compromises you'll make for +6 to +10 MPG of fuel economy. I could see myself buying one if they would make the suggested improvements to bring the rest of the car up to date with the 21st century and improve the buy value against competitors.
Favorite Features
Fuel economy, sporty ride and better styling than the Prius, this hybrid is better suited to my needs than the other options on the market for my needs (no family needs).
Suggested Improvements
Turn signal stalk and window switches look like standard Toyota fare, which would be fine, if they would update them at least every 10 years. Turn signal stalk should be closer to steering wheel. No 1-touch lane change signalling. No implements (flats or grips) on the steering wheel @ the 3 and 9 positions.
