Freelander problems are infinite
Re: Another Land Rover Nightmare [kokoblue]
Hi His name is Howard Gutman & he is in New Jersey. He is working on my case as well as others with Freelanders. My 2003 needed the new engine at 40,000 miles. It took my Freelander being towed to the LR dealership 10 times (really) before they figured that I needed a new engine-mine cost $15000-it was not under warranty anymore. After I got the new engine-I waited 6 ... Read More...

Screwed also
I bought a 2003 freelander used for my daughter 4 years ago -- it sure was a darn cute car for a high school girl -- this was the two door version in bright yellow. As a freshman in college -- she started to have engine heating problems. She was 3 hours away and at the mercy of the local repair shops. $1200 later she had replaced some fans and the temperature gauge. At the ... Read More...

I have had my 2003 for almost 3 years and it has been in the shop almost every 2 to 3 months. the coolant seems to be going somewhere but the dealer has never found where. But it all came to an end the last week when the engine died. On a road trip the oil light came on so I so I stop put in oil. When I got back on the interstate the light came back on and the power was dropping. The ... Read More...

2003 Land Rover Freelander SE3 (2 Door) Concerns?
Hello all, We just purchased a 2003 Land Rover Freelander SE3 (2 Door) from a dealer in our area. It has 56K miles on it and seems to be running properly - for now. I'm concerned about the reviews of the Freelander and did not know there were so many issues before we purchased. My question is; Is the Freelander SE3 2DR riddled with as many problems as the 4DR companion ... Read More...

Re: Update [desertchildaz]
I'm happy and relieved to announce that I'm no longer the owner of a 2003 Freelander. Amen! I am now the proud owner of a brand new 2009 Scion XB. It will be my personal mission in life to make sure nobody I know ever owns any vehicle ever made by Land Rover. Read More...
2003 Lemon Rover Free Lemon
I have been reading a lot of these posts today, and only wish I had read them earlier. I am the original owner of a 2003 Freelander and was told that I need a new engine today by the same Land Rover dealership who sold me this "vehicle." Please understand that this "vehicle" has been well cared for, all services were done as scheduled, and at 61,000 miles the cylinder ... Read More...

First Posting
Hi everyone. This is my first post. (I feel like we all need therapy for what we're going through.) I bought a 2003 Freelander, 32K miles, one year ago. When I drove it off the lot, the "service engine soon" light was on. I called the dealer (Tempe Mitsubishi, which has since closed its doors) immediately and he said their service department had just done the standard ... Read More...

Re: Freelander Transmission Problems [markyh]
Well, let me join the rest of you who have been bitten by the Land Rover Freelander bug. Here is my brief story. My 2003 HS Freelander transmission display began flashing F and 4 while I was attending my aunts funeral 300 miles away from home. I call the 800 number for Land Rover seeking techincial assistant and said take it your nearest dealer. I got it back to Dallas ... Read More...

Re: 2003 Freelander What A Piece of JUNK [richard457]
Land Rover sells junk. My truck had 6,000 miles on it when i bought it and i went through endless amounts of repairs and more than enough times vehicle-less due to the numeral times it was in the shop. My tranny went at 51,000. That was after the engine had went and just about everything else. The last straw was when the back window motor went at 52,000 miles on our family ... Read More...
