I can only say the word CARFAX check it out off the vin # to assure all past history on any car for that matter but mainly because LR3 is a higher maintence SUV. I also had a similar problem with my 2005 LR3. And it was a rat had crawled up in the engine copmaprtment and chewed up the wiring harness. Apparently Land Rover and other auto manufacturers in their effort to "Go Green" have started purchasing wiring and cabling with insulation made from Vegetable oil based plastics insted of petroleum based plastics. So the insulation is basically a hearty vegetarian meal to the ... Read More
I got the extended warranty with my new purchase LR3 in Jan 2005. Paid about $2k, I think. All documentation was from Land Rover direct, but beware, this is not serviced by Land Rover directly. Success in getting warranty claims paid for depends highly on where you service your vehicle. I have 102k miles on the truck. I had it serviced at (1) the dealership I purchased from, (2) a local ... Regarding Wiper Blades for the Land Rover LR3... I've had great success with the "Bosch Icon" Wiper Blades for the front! For the single rear wiper blade, Bosch makes the "Rear View" wiper blade! The front blades have a swept look to them. They also look superior, (my opinion), to the stock blades that originally came with the vehicle. They are also infinately more quiet and do a very nice job. ... Read More

I have a 2005 LR3 with 24000 miles. At 22000 I took it in and was told my back tires were bald on the inside. I would say that yours are new tires because the previous ... Read More

What brand of tires did you buy? I am at 16,500 miles. My rear tires are worn much more than the front. I had the worst luck with Land Rover. I even sent a written complaint to Land Rover of America. They did nothing! So I went straight to BMW and traded it for an X3. It's smaller but I love it! I must admit that I miss my LR3 but I do not miss the hassle. Good luck with everything!
At 10,000 miles I was informed by service mgr that my rear tires were down to the wire, so land rover replaced them under warranty as they had factory allignment issue. they put the new ones in the front and rotated the front ones to the back. I am buying the car from a friend...just waiting for the title. He bought from a Land Rover dealer,i called the dealer and they said that after 12,000 miles they will not deal with the tire issue. If it was a certfied Land Rover at a land rover dealer they should have replaced the tires.
Hi vidaman. There's nothing wrong with leasing used vehicles, other than the fact that they often aren't as much less expensive than new vehicles as one would think. If Land Rover is running a special lease program on 2005 Certified Pre-Owned LR3s that make them significantly less expensive to lease than a similar 2006 or 2007 model would be, go for it. Just make sure to compare the payment to the ... Read More
Ah, good call British-rover. It was an EARLY 2006 model. Acquired in Sept. 2005. And you are right, but I can't afford to do the mileage I do and do the prorated tire stuff--that's just plain silly. I just traded in my 2002 MDX for a 2005 MDX. The LR3 was the last vehicle on my list of alternative possibilities and the one I came closest to buying. My reasons for choosing the Acura were many and not really worth mentioning here for the sake of brevity. My brother-in-law is in the market for a new SUV and he too is strongly considering the LR3 (thanks to much ... Read More
At one point, we were between the LR3 and MDX when I thought I was going to buy in 2004 and was looking only at 6,000+ lb GVW vehicles. Now our current SUV is acting up and we may be back in the market. However, I have just about completely ruled out the GX470 for various issues mentioned - lousy 3rd row being chief among them. The 2005 MDX, with ... Read More
Just placed an order with the local dealer for a 2005 LR3 HSE Alveston Red/Black interior with all the options. Because I wanted a certain color and all the options, I was told that the order would be placed in January, probably built in March, and finally delivered to Houston sometime in May or June. Long time to wait, but am willing to get what I want. Bought the LR3 through ... Read More
Here are some details ====================================== EXTERNAL ANTENNA CONNECTION FOR CRADLE Both LR3 and Range Rover have an external Antenna connection when using a cradle docked phone. DIALING POINTS OF INTEREST FROM NAV SCREEN If the navigation and PTI are fitted and the map database contains the phone number of that particular POI, a softkey exists on the navigation display to dial that particular POI. This feature is available on Range Rover ... Read More
Thanks for the encouraging words that the LR3 should at least be better than the M-class. A neighbor of mine has an Acura and has a number of complaints and problems with the quality of their MDX. Even my Lexus LS430 just had a recall where they replaced the transmission (and their quality ratings across the board are excellent). I think any vehicle you get is likely to have some problems. ... Dear LR3 Forum readers, I can't help but get the sense of lots of negativity and skepticism on this board. Understandably since you guys haven't gotten to hear from any real life owners. So here for what looks like one of the first times is a real life owner of a 2005 fully loaded LR3 SE. Ok here is some quick info on my car: Dealer purchased from: Land Rover San ... Read More
That is a key point. No track record on any vehicle is a concern, double that when it is on a brand that is known for having quality issues. In the most recent JD Powers reliability study Lexus rated as by far the most reliable with 162 problems per 100 vehicles. On a side note, that is the 10th straight year Lexus has been named the leader in reliability. Land Rover ... Read More
My wife and I recently test drove and then purchased a 2005 LR3 SE with all the options - total MSRP was $53,295. Traded in an Infinity FX35. We looked at several other SUV's and all I can say is drive them back to back - we did'nt think anything else had the same combination of on street ride and handling and off-road performance. The LR3 has a fantastic street ride, ... Read More

"The GX470: "Underhorsed" and "high torque" are logical inconsistencies. They can not co-exist." Actually, they can co-exist and do in the GX470, due to it's extraordinarily low redline (about 5,000 rpm, I recall). In the case of my former S2000, the opposite exists - high horsepower, low torque, due to it's 9,000 rpm redline. My prediction for the 2005 GX is that they will get most of the 15% increase in ... I currently own a 2003 GX470. Like the vehicle except I have three kids and the 3rd row is almost useless when you factor in a stroller. Everything else has been great. Considered the XC90 and almost leased a 2005 2.5T last weekend. As I was walking through the parking lot at Disney World tonight, I saw an XC90. IMHO, it does not evoke the same feeling when looking at Lexus ... Read More
Thanks. Too bad. The forthcoming optional LR3 Bluetooth/PTI functions will regretably probably only use the tiny separate display/interface on the LR3 h/k stereo head unit. (Lowest common denominator factor.) I was hoping they'd supplement with Touchscreen support if the vehicle had Navigation... since they already had a GUI for the '05 RR. Land Rover also documents touchscreen use with the "Premium" ICE h/k Stereo on the LR3. That might be a ... Read More
Can someone here that has driven/seen a 2005 Range Rover tell me if the two pictures here represent the new Phone/Bluetooth GUI and Touchscreen Main Menu on the '05 Range Rover? Land Rover UK's web site implies it's the Discovery 3's interface, but it's very suspect. (Land Rover NA and all current documentation says the LR3 Navigation Touchscreen screen is only used for Navigation and 4x4 Information - nothing else, like ... Read More
