dont know how they could say sensor is bad because if it was bad you would have known before you even got there to get the tires. direct tpms went back to about 2002 and ramped up to 100 percent for 2008. place should be plenty used to working on them by now.
Agree with your comment. After speaking with several tire installers, most indicated they would cover the cost of a broken TPMS sensor. All autos made since 2008 now have TPMS as a federal requirement, so the shops have learned to work around them. For every hundreds of cars, they make break one by accident but they would take care of that as it is a rare exception. I did encounter a ... Read More
I have about 37K miles on my 2008 LR2 and will be replacing the tires shortly. I am considering replacing the OEM Conti's with a new tire from Toyo called Versado CUV. Anyway, my question involves the TPMS sensors on the wheels. What have other LR2 owners done with the TPMS when replacing tires? The three basic options are 1) leave them alone, 2) use the TPMS service kit to replace ... Read More
Hey, I just bought a 2008 LR2. Do i register it with Land Rover dealership to get the oil changes and such? It's still under factory warrenty.
Yeah sorry about that, I realize I didn't list miles, it has 27,075 miles on it. I am not sure if it was a rental. Its being sold by Rosenthal Acura dealership, so not at Land Rover. Edmunds TMV listed it at 28,941 with that mileage which seems kind of high actually. Would the dealer actually tell me if it was a rental, I can't seem them disclosing that. Are you ... Read More
Having the same problem with a 2002 Land Rover, so problem has been around longer than the 2008. Won't start intermittently until motor cools off. Car is at mechanic right now; saw a blog about pressing accelerator before turning key to start and that seems to help one owner. Another owner had sensors replaced, but did not fix problem. Sounds as if it is fuel related.
Hi, what is the current model LR2 for sale? Is it 2009? Are there any new 2008s? Or new 2010s? Are 2010s coming soon? What is the standard lease deal for these 3 years, if indeed all three years are available for lease? The new Sport and RR and LR3 seem to have a lot of changes coming this year, what about the LR2, I barely hear it mentioned? Why is ... Read More
I don' t know why it took me so long to post my freelander tale. I bought my 2005 se in feb 2007. The problems started almost immediately with the "service engine soon" light coming on. This happened almost immediately and continued about 2-3 times per month with always the same results-fault codes, and near undriveability. Throw in along the way constant overheating which i think got the thermostat replaced and ... Read More
I just recently purchased a new 2008 LR3 Land Rover with 4700 miles on it and while driving 60 MPH on HWY the suspension system sensor was faulty and rose up while driving. I just called Land Rover USA and they said the 6 complimentary services will still be honored for 2008 LR2s. Starting with the 2009 models though, they'll only get the one service. That's too bad, but I'm glad we'll still get what we paid for when buying the '08 LR2. I would have been pretty bent if they rolled back that offering.
:) I have a 2008 LR2 with 33,000 miles on it.. I have owned it for about 14 months.. Not a hint of a problem. The service from my dealewr is first rate.. Now my wife wants one too.. DO NOT GO TO Jaguar Land Rover Mission Viejo!!! I leased my 2008 LR2 from them in Oct 07 and had the WORST customer service out of any dealership I've ever purchased a vehicle from. My I ask where you found the Land Rover steel wheels? I've been trying to find a set online and have had zero luck. I'm trying to fit my 2008 LR2 with the same as what sounds like you already have. Thanks!
Just went online to tirerack.com as you recommended and this was the response that I received: You Selected: 2008 Land Rover LR2 SE Winter wheels for this vehicle are not available but winter tires can be purchased separately by selecting your size at the right. Any thoughts? The search results were for the original 235 60R18 18x8.0in wheels.
I own a 2008 LR2 SE and am about to dish out $700 big ones for the LR2's Snow Traction System, but started to wonder if it's worth it. First off, it's over $700!!! Secondly, they're only for the front tires, which means you get zilch for the back tires. I live in Upstate NY where we get, on average, 6-12 inches of snowfall per session. Has anyone had any experience ... Read More
I have a 2008 LR2 SE and purchased it when they first came out in 2007. I am at 35,000 now. Overall I have been very pleased with the LR2. But lately an issue has started involving starting the LR2. Hi wakeforest. Land Rover's third quarter lease program is only scheduled to run through September 2nd. Through then, its buy rate lease money factor and residual value for a 24 month lease of a 2008 LR2 SE with 15,000 miles per year are an unbelievably bad .00390 and 59%, respectively. Land Rover obviously doesn't want anyone to lease this truck through its captive finance company right now. Its base acquisition fee ... Read More

Hi mrj0001tj. The dealer invoice pricing that is available at Edmunds.com is usually very accurate. The most likely explanation for the difference between the number that is listed here and what the dealer that you are working with told you is that they are adding some fees to this truck's base invoice price. The $3,000 dealer cash incentive that is currently available on the 2008 LR2 SE is not compatible with ... Read More
Report seems to be right in line with what Car and Driver reported in their testing. It's nice to see two different test organizations come up with similar rankings and results! FYI, Went to test drive a 2008 LR2 today, I wanted a loaded model with a black leather interior and a stornaway grey exterior. Yeah I agree with that. Still not a fan of the current X5 though. It looks fine from some angles but from others it looks as bad as the X3. The afterthought rear seats really bother me too. OK, I'll say it. I'll keep it real. I think most BMWs are beautiful. I think the X5 (roughly the X3's cousin) is one of the best looking SUVs out there. I wanted to know if anybody is aware of June Incentives on LR2. Also I wanted to know Residual and MF for a 2 Yr LR2 lease with 15K Miles/Yr as well as 12K Miles/Yr. Are they different than the one provided earlier in this thread? Thanks to all in advance for your help. :)
It depends on the package you want. The risidual is less if you get the tech package. 55% to 58%, I think. The money factor basically equates to about 6.5% interest.
I noticed quite a few of the new 2007 BMW X3s are having transmission problems. Did you guys noticed anything wrong when test driving it? Or were you so focused on identifying the shortcomings of the LR2 all the while praising all the good points of the X3 that it was overlooked?
True. You experience that when going to concerts or sports events. Somebody is actually sits down that is shorter than you and they block your view. Very strange freaks we are. I doubt it. I keep meaning to send a letter to the editior to point out all the problems and I have just been too busy. I need to send you an email too and I keep forgeting when I get home.
I wonder if the author ever reads these blogs, and if so, if they would ever publicly acknowledge the errors in the article.
If they tried to take the X3 into the same off-road situation that a LR2 can go through then the X3 would be broken. The service advisor at my dealership is almost 6 foot 4 and he fits fine in the LR2 but he doesn't fit in the Range Sport. It all depends on your body type. I think Edmunds should retest the LR2 with another car and some other editors. ... Read More
