My 2009 Kia Sportage was not driven for about 3 months while I was on deployment. So the bettery died and I had to recharge it yesterday to drive it. I have looked at Sportages for a number of years. Last year I rented one while in Florida and was horribly disappointed. I don't know what to believe anymore... Please tell me that Autoweek got the dates wrong for the Optima. If you read the article, it says that the Optima is out "next year", and then the Hybrid out "1st quarter of 2011". Aren't they really the same timeframe? This is contrary to what Kia has "officially" put on their website. Also the Sportage 2.0T date could be wrong as well...this article ... Read More

How do I remove the plastic inner panel on the rear hatch of my 2009 Kia Sportage without wrecking anything? I am going to install a back-up camera because the factory window tint in the back is so dark that it is hard to back up out of parking spots safely. I would like to improve the sound of the stock cd/Sirius radio in my 2009 Sportage. I don't want to replace the in-dash unit with a smaller, din-sized after-market deck, so does anyone know/have experience if adding a decent amp is a worthwhile upgrade? give me their impressions of the 2009 Kia Sportage with 4cyl. automatic and either 4 wheel drive or 2 wheel drive? If you can comment, please indicate if you thought the 4 cyl. was adequate to pull a small trailer with passengers. I'm trying to decide on a small crossover that is decent on gas and under $20,000 after tax. Thanks!

Thanks for the insights. I had to put the Sportage on hold because I couldn't get the price I needed for our minivan. Also I noticed the lease deal on the Sportage is not as good now as it was in July. So I'll keep an eye on incentives as we get closer to the end of the year--hopefully they'll increase.
