Today on Briley Parkway, the kia's engine died. Came to a complete stop on the off-ramp. I opened the hood, checked the oil. Its good, not low, Checked the resivor for the radiator, it was full, opened the radiator cap ( after it kinda cooled down ) All belts are on, can't see the timing belt cause its covered. I had my 2002 serviced and they replaced the fan just prior to it melting as well. They will replace it for you also, since it was on the RECALL list. Check with your local dealer. Read More...

Since Oct of 2008 I have been trying to solve this problem. A buzzing noise starts in the area of the transmission and starts surging while decelerating or accelerating. My fuel tank is leaking on my 2000 Kia Sportage. I printed out the Service Campaign 1996-2002 Sportage Fuel Tank Inspection .PDF and took it to both my local dealers. Niether dealer wanted to touch the tank or honor the NHTSA inspection. I read on the 'Vehicles Affected' column that it's 1996-2002 MY Sportage Models. Are those special models? If it runs fine after the belt broke, the damage is most likely minimal. the Kia has an interference engine. lubrication would or should not be a problem for as short as the engine would be running when the belt fails. the best way to figure out damage internally w/o an overhaul is an oil analyis. vacuum line missing

I have a 2002 kia sportage. I has been running rough so, I changed the plugs, wires and the fuel filter. While I was working on it I noticed a vacuume line missing from the intake manifold. Their is two vacuum lines one above the other one. The top one goes to an air canster. I covered up the port with missing hose with a piece of tape and the car ran fine. Where does the other ...
