My 2006 Spec 5 has around 16500 miles on it. It is highly customized, KFX Performance header, KFX Perfomance cold air intake, no cat, Kia OEM Cat back center exhaust, automatic tranny, and I get 31 MPG. I just bought a 2006 kia spectra 5 and i am so far very happy. I want to put an intake, an exaust, lowering kit, and mabie a few other cool accessories. I dont know that much about new cars, all i have ever owned are old muscle cars. does anyone have any ideas or recomendations on what i should do?

i owned 2006 Spectra EX(bought it off the lot with only 132 miles on it) for four months until it was totaled in an accident. i put 12999 miles on it in those four months. The tires showed 73% thread usage. The insurance people measured the tire tread depth. So the tire life on your tires is about right. Must have been one owner ? but sounds like a sweet deal. ... I have a 2006 kia spectra ex, automatic, 23K. I've started having problems with turning the engine over in the morning after the car has set over night. engine starts to turn and stops (no "clicking when it stops). problem goes away once engine has warmed. anyone else have this problem?

Kia dealers are a bunch of liars. I had this same problem with my transmission in my 2006 Kia Spectra. After numerous trips to the dealer, and working with Kia Corporate, they finally replaced the transmission. I turned around and traded it in the same day I picked it up from having the transmission replaced. I will never own another Kia/Hyundai product.

Just drove 333 miles,fill was 10 gallons. Looks like that is 33 M.P.G.2006 Spectra EX with 3000 miles. Seems good to me.

One can order them as options but I think I'm gonna go with the old-fashioned crank windows, pop-up and down door locks and hand-adjustable mirrors outside. Most likely Hyundai and Kia are using the same seat sensor and/or computer, as the 2006 Sonata GLS my wife recently rented had the same problem. With an adult sitting in the front passenger seat, the passenger airbag was disabled - this occured on an intermittent basis.

Here's some related info from Edmund's (now outdated) review of the new Spectra. Note specifically the IIHS mention about the *old* Spectra. It looks like Edmunds also thought that the side seat and curtain air bags would benefit the offset crash results.
