i have a 2006 kia spectra 5 :) and it only has 26000 miles on it and it doesn't cost me that much for gas. so i would recemend the kia spectra 5
I would be more than willing to help, I posted a while ago, I have a 2006 Kia spectra, mine is silver, I have had nothing but problems with the paint, the last time they fixed it (painted chipping on the rear quarters, behind the rear doors), they said they were doing me a favor, they painted it and put a chip guard on the area, well it hasn't been more ... I bought a 2006 KIA Spectra LX a 1 1/2 years ago, I bought it brand new, I have had my car into the dealer two times for rust on the rear quarters , behind the back doors, the first time was just about 6 months of owning it and I just took it in again for the same problem, apparently it is poor design of the car itself, the rear ... I just bought a 2006 Spectra 5 and was told by Car Max, where i bought it, that the manufacturer warranty was still on the car, to 60,000 miles. They also sold me their own, 75,000 mile warranty but i have to pay a small deductible each time i let them fix the car. I noticed today after looking through everything that i have absolutely NO previous maintenance records on the ... Read More
My 2006 Spec 5 has around 16500 miles on it. It is highly customized, KFX Performance header, KFX Perfomance cold air intake, no cat, Kia OEM Cat back center exhaust, automatic tranny, and I get 31 MPG. I got that mileage before the header install and am still getting that mileage afterwards. I have had no problems with any part of the car. I change the oil every 3000 miles. I ... Read More
I just bought a 2006 kia spectra 5 and i am so far very happy. I want to put an intake, an exaust, lowering kit, and mabie a few other cool accessories. I dont know that much about new cars, all i have ever owned are old muscle cars. does anyone have any ideas or recomendations on what i should do?
i owned 2006 Spectra EX(bought it off the lot with only 132 miles on it) for four months until it was totaled in an accident. i put 12999 miles on it in those four months. The tires showed 73% thread usage. The insurance people measured the tire tread depth. So the tire life on your tires is about right. Must have been one owner ? but sounds like a sweet deal. ... Last Month, my Wife traded in her 04 Spectra GSX for a Black, fully loaded 06 Spectra5. She is really happy with it. I'm not much of a car guy at all. To me, a car is only for hauling stuff that I cannot fit on my Bike, or if the weather is too servere. Ive been around Bikes all my life and cars just don't excite me all that much. ... Read More
Bought my brand new 2007 Kia Spectra5 just 4 days ago. The check engine light came on and I hooked a OBDC-II to it and the code report it as an EVAP (small) emissions control problem. I owned a (2006)Kia Spectra for about 4 months until I got it totalled in a car accident(not my fault). Decided to go with a Spectra5. I loved the old 06 spectra. Had no problems ... Read More

My husband and I bought a brand new Kia Spectra about 8 months ago. Its white, and I didn't drive it today, so I don't know the month and year it was made...but its a 2006. I have a 2006 kia spectra ex, automatic, 23K. I've started having problems with turning the engine over in the morning after the car has set over night. engine starts to turn and stops (no "clicking when it stops). problem goes away once engine has warmed. anyone else have this problem?
. This list spotlights the cars with the lowest residual values for 2006 — that is, they're likely to depreciate the most during the ownership period. Below, we show the percentage of its original value that each vehicle is likely to retain after five years with an annual mileage of 15,000. These cars aren't as bad a deal as you might think. Many of them are very inexpensive to begin with. ... Read More
Kia dealers are a bunch of liars. I had this same problem with my transmission in my 2006 Kia Spectra. After numerous trips to the dealer, and working with Kia Corporate, they finally replaced the transmission. I turned around and traded it in the same day I picked it up from having the transmission replaced. I will never own another Kia/Hyundai product.
Just drove 333 miles, fill was 10 gallons. Looks like that is 33 M.P.G.2006 Spectra EX with 3000 miles. Seems good to me.
I don't need to disclaim anything since you stepped right up and did it for me. Thanks. As for the Accent managing "only" 4 stars for frontal side impact with side bags, note that is as good or better than 2006 MY cars tested with SABs such as: Acura RSX and TL BMW Z4 Buick Lucerne Cadillac CTS and DTS Chevy Aveo Ford Taurus Honda Accord and Civic Hyundai Tiburon Jaguar ... I had a 2006 Kia Spectra with an automatic transmission. Anytime the temperature was below freezing, the transmission would race for several seconds when changing between 2nd and 3rd gears. AT 1,400 MILES THE TRANSMISSION HAD TO BE REPLACED! I was extremely disappointed as I had not even made the first payment on the car! Both Kia and the dealer would not replace the vehicle (my thought was that if the ... Read More
indeed, the 2006 Kia Rio's don't have power W's/L's/M's. One can order them as options but I think I'm gonna go with the old-fashioned crank windows, pop-up and down door locks and hand-adjustable mirrors outside. I mean, I will take the AM/FM/CD player inside the cabin, though. The Rio LX sedan (it's looking like that is the one I will go for, hopefully real soon now)comes standard without power windows/locks and ... Read More

would think that I meant you, backy! I didn't mean you, though I certainly recall that you have an issue with new-world-order Kia Spectra seats. How about looking at it this way: if somebody likes a car's seat and they also like several more important ... Read More

Most likely Hyundai and Kia are using the same seat sensor and/or computer, as the 2006 Sonata GLS my wife recently rented had the same problem. With an adult sitting in the front passenger seat, the passenger airbag was disabled - this occured on an intermittent basis.
FYI.... If anyone with a 2004.5/2005 Spectra experiences any shifting issues with their transmission (esp, from 2nd to 3rd under heavy throttle) there appears to be a known problem with the transmission's computer/brain. It has been reported on another KIA Spectra forum that KIA has replaced the transmission logic module on some poster's cars. It appears that this problem is fairly rare, but it has been reported by more than just ... Read More

I am considering the purchase of a 2005 Spectra EX 4-door sedan. Once I got over the mental hurdle of considering a Kia, I'm actually quite impressed with the vehicle. Automakers are beginning to pay attention... SABs and SACs are now standard on all new Kias and Hyundais; the '04 Spectra was the first model to be so equipped, but that's been followed by the new Tucson, Sportage, Sonata, Accent, Rio, and Azera. Honda has announced they will provide SABs and SACs standard in all models by the end of 2006--so that will include the new Civic and the Fit (if ... Read More
The first Kia that is really a good buy--meaning a really good car with great features plus a great price--may be the 2006 Sportage LX, coming this summer. MSRP $15,900 very well equipped including ABS, SABs/SACs, stability control, power package, roof rack, and alloys. It's Kia's version of the Tuscon but for less money. OK, so it's not a "car" exactly. And not under $15k MSRP. But a great value I ... Read More
the old Sephia. So what you say? Well, IMHO, that is saying something. I enjoyed my '99 Sephia but Kia, as backy has pointed out very eloquently above, has improved the subcompact Spectra. Hey there ILMS1! Oh.... I'm most certainly driving my Spectra and enjoying it. It's pushing 7k miles now, and still no problems other than the oft-reported KIA owners lament of less-than-stellar fuel milage. Here's some related info from Edmund's (now outdated) review of the new Spectra. Note specifically the IIHS mention about the *old* Spectra. It looks like Edmunds also thought that the side seat and curtain air bags would benefit the offset crash results. It also shows that it doesn't look like KIA has learned much from the testing done on their previous model. (You would have thought that the Hyundai engineers would ... Read More
I don't have hard info on when Kia will start using the new Hyundai engines, but we can make some intelligent guesses. We know the NF Sonata will use the new engines. as the next-gen Elantra under development right now(sometimes referred to as the 2006 Hyundai Elantra). The new Spectra will go into production in December in South Korea for models that will be exported to the U.S. It will be FWD and will get the CVVT engine(to cut down on emissions and get better gas mileage). I would guess that that engine will be 2.0L 4-cylinder for the U.S. The new Elantra ... Read More
that fact about the new Spectra's platform. Hey, Ingtonge18, this should put fears to rest about chassis refinements for this handsome new Kia 4-door sedan and the "later to be shown-to-the-world"(2004 Auto Show in New York in April)5 door hatch(Kia didn't specify hatch, but umm...). It WILL have an all-new platform that the 2006 Hyundai Elantra will also be unitized to. Makes sense, this will be an all-new car. This car ... Read More
for those who can not read real well, the new kia spectra is the new plantform of which the 2006 hyundai elantra will be built on. read all articles before you say that the new spectra is based on the current elantra plantform.
so I thought I'd post. Even though I think this car is past its prime and will be Cavalier-old by its next platform (shared with Elantra) in 2006-- I think there've been fairly strong advances in quality control since 1998. I can't believe however, that Kia can't put together a tighter throwing transmission. My old Festiva was no where near that sloppy. Then again I haven't driven a new Spectra sedan, ... Read More
