    bought a used 2001 Spectra (70,000ish miles on it) 18 months ago. No problems at first, about six months in it started stalling (w/check engine light) when idling with the brakes on (at stoplights), usually about the time the engine cooling fan kicked on.     I have a manual 2001 kia spectra, that I purchased used with no owner's manual. Since I bought the car, I have replaced the alternator twice, and now I am having more problems... the car will not start, or begin to turn over, I know that I have a bad fuse in the relay box, but no diagram to go by to find out what fuse is bad. Any suggestions?

The headline doesn't scream, "Kia Spectra rated Poor on latest IIHS tests!"     I personally have a problem with the Spectra being rated poor. All of the individual ratings were either marginal or acceptable. There were no poor ratings at all. I have to ask how the IIHS thinks the Spectra deserves an overall rating of poor when none of the individual ratings were poor. If anything, the Spectra should be rated marginal.     On the Elantra's crash tests, we were both wrong. Both the 2001 and 2004 models got two five-star ratings and two four-star ratings; that is why I said they had the same ratings.     yeah, I was told with my Sportage 4x4 purchase in Sept.2001 to not exceed 60mph for the first 1000 miles. I actually stuck to that, too. It wasn't easy but, well, you know! Any American 2004 1/2 Kia Spectra buyers jump in here and detail away, OK? Getting suddenly interesting in here!

If the 2004 Kia Spectra is on the sales lots already(I'm sure it is)and it is the same body style that we've seen since 2001 or so, then this brand new style should be called the 2005 Kia Spectra IMO. Hopefully the home base will send clarifying signals out soon on this matter.
