I have a very simular problem and still within the warranty (96k). I plan to take it to dealer soon to see what is up. The transmission never did feel right inspote of the dealer claiming it was fine.

you need to file a complaint with the NHTSA this is how recalls occur I just filed a complaint for a sheered bolt I think they can offer recalls up to 10 years unless owners start stepping forward and directing their complaints to the correct people kia will keep getting away with this.

Have two '06 sorentos 2 vin digits apart (made the same day/same crew). Around the 10-11k mark, both lost the dome lite feature. Sorento Altenator Problem
I have a 2005 Kia Sorento that is giving me a serious headache. What started as the battery, turned into a new altenator and a new battery. The car still wont stay running after the battery dies and I continue to have to recharge the battery. Can anyone give me an idea of something that I am apparently missing? New altenator? Check, New battery? Check... New Belt? Check!!!! What's next?

systematic in that it appears to be in the early MY sories....03-04s...dont know that there is a fix, mine has long been out of warranty...140k on it now....I havent had much of a problem since replacing the battery and tightening all the grounds down at the battery and fuze box....I havent honestly followed up with a dealer in over two years......

this is a systematic problem with the sorento....check to insure your battery ground into the body is good...all fuses are tight....and when you replace the battery...get one with the max amps possible....above and beyond OEM status... as far as the headlamps being faded, depends on where you are...and if the vehicle is parked outside all the time....the lamps can be buffed out...with products at most auto parts stores

My dealer actually admitted to me they didn't know this. me dealership doesnt enforce the severe maintenance schedule in the owners manual...they have their own recommended one..which follows the normal maintenance.....with a few more add ons....very reasonable...so not all dealerships...are stealerships.... very happy with they way they have handled service on my sorie...reasonable price....and always a one day turn around.....in for the recall now....94K on my 03 EX....

Hi, I wanted to change the differential fluid. I have a 05 EX with limited slip. I cannot find the the gear oil that KIA reccomends in my local auto part stores. I stopped in a KIA dealership that also sells Chrysler and they wanted to give me Mopar gear oil. (They said its what they use in the Kia's). Any info would be appreciated. Thanks

I just paid $21,386 for a 05 green and beige Sorento EX 4x4 auto, with ABS, sunroof, cd and cassette, and cruise control. There are a number of these at Kia Dealers in New York. I traded in an 02 Sportage. I have to say the ride is so much smoother than I expected. Acceleration is great as are the brakes.

I'm thinking of buying a 2005 4x4 Sorento to tow behind my RV. I'm getting mixed messages. The Kia dealer says it will be ok, with a transfer case switch which he will install. The Kia 800 line says that they don't recommend towing and I might void my warranty. Does anyone tow a Sorento?

I just checked out the NHTSA site and found this recall notice for some 2003 Kia Sorento. It affected some 2935 units in 2003 model year which produced from June 7, 2002 to August 14, 2002. I'm sorry to hear about your 2005 Sorento. I think you need to contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) about the defects. You need to file a compliant with NHTSA. They do not have to receive a lot complaints before look into the problem. Despite all the problems I've had with my 2005 Sorento....the temp gauge has always run just under the 1/2 mark. That's with 90 miles of commuting daily with air conditioner running and driving in the High Desert (Victorville area), over the Cajon pass and up to Lake Arrowhead mountains. Hey i can help with this one, it is in the lines heading into the air conditioning compressor. took mine in for the 1st 3 month check up complainging about it and there is 2 lines that "overlap" to couple/join. There is something on their side that says to replace it if someone complains about it. They replaced it same day and no whine what so ever.

I don't know anything about the recall or TSB on the clock. But my dealer replaced mine like a year ago on my '03 Sorento. It showed 1:00 everytime I started the car and it changed to 1:00 in a little while after I reset it to the correct time. They just replaced it. I don't know what's up with Kia.
