I have a 2004 Kia Sedona and when I have brakes problems I take mine to American Brake. I think they are suppose to be nationwide. They really do a thorough job and charge alot less an hour than Kia. My rotors were frozen and they used a heat gun and separated them and if I had taken to Kia they would have put on new rotors. Read More...

My 2004 has done the same thing. I have had the rotors replaced or resurfaced 4 times and they are in need of it again. I also had to have my brake pads replaced. It usually happens about every 8,000 miles. The service manager stood right in front of me one day and told me it was my driving. That's great they re did the 2006's, but what about my 2004 which started groaning in the rear brakes when it had less than a 1000 mi. I was told this is a normal ? thing for a heavy van. The dealer after 3 trips said the only thing they could do is to clean the pads and rotors at my expense. We still have the van and still have the noise with out any help or or consideration ... I am having all the same brake issues with my 2004 Kia Sedona. I want to join a class action lawsuit. Does anyone have information about one? I found information about one Kia had to pay for the Spectra with the same brake problems but not the Sedona - not yet anyway. Read More...

Hi there kweatherbee, Am driving a 2004 Kia Carnival II with the same problem as yours i.e. rear brakes groaning when coming to a stop. Found out by accident that the problem is not caused by the rear brake shoes or brake drums but would you believe it or not, its caused by the rear wheel bearings. Dishnerm21, Ditto, I bought brand new an 05 Sedona. I also have the same problems. I've replaced brakes and rotors. If the problem is not taken care of I am directed to contact the DMV, State's Attorney Generals office and BBB then Kia international. We are still FIGHTING THIS ISSUE. :mad: Read More...

For those on a budget, Kia is great. I would just make sure you really get a good deal on it though, if you are going to spend 30,000 on a vehicle, get the Honda for its good resale! However if you are like us, and need a deal, get the Kia. One thing I noticed is that you can visit the message boards of pretty much any vehicle and find people who had a terrible experience. It depends on the day the car was made, who made the parts, etc. You could probably buy a brand new Mercedes and have it break down if the quality control person was fighting a hangover on the day the car was made. We are in Philly area and we just got an '07 EX that was a demo car with only 1500 miles on it for like 22,500 but that was "out the door"...taxes, tags, and including, unfortunately, $1000 that our previous 2004 Kia was upended on the loan (because we didn't do as much homework on that purchase, didn't get quite as good of a deal). Hi Jimmy, I have noticed a big difference in road noise when buying new tires for our 3 different min vans over the years. My 2004 Kia Sedona has Kumho Tires, and they very low on road noise compared to some other tires I have had.
