I have 2004 Kia Rio, it die for no reason, you can hear the starter click but nothing else all the lights come on and radio plays but thats all. I put a computer on it and it brought up the codes for a malfunctioning crankshaft sonser and gear 3 inproper ratio. Well I replace the sensor and checked the battery and starter and both passed. A freind said it was ... Read More
it would be the Versa or a 2009 Fit. The current 2008 Fit isn't in that list because the current model, which was introduced in Asia around 2000 if I recollect correctly, suffers from being a little too small and twitchy on the highway. It's a true "B" car (size category = mini, not compact) and suffers from some of the B car shortcomings, like not dealing with the freeway well. ... Read More
l have a car rio 2004 , i need a new engine, o used one, my question is where can i find new one , and what is the price , my car is kia rio sedan 4 door, thanks
Ok. So, back in late '04 I bought a used 2004 Kia Rio with just under 20,000 miles on it. It was a good car, good on gas. Never had any major problems with it but since it was a used car, I didn't have the full warranty. I went looking at the new '07 Rio's two weeks ago today and ended up driving a really pretty blue one home for ... Read More
that is because they do not make the Echo any more. we have 2000 Echo & 2004 Echo they are both 5 speeds. 2000 Echo has 146000 trouble free miles. 2004 Echo has 38000 trouble free miles on it. try that with a Accent or Kia Rio. :P
What sells Kia (at least for me when I bought my 2004 Rio Cinco)is the 10/100,00 mile warrenty. I have yet had a need to use it at 32,000 miles. I agree about the black molding...on mine it's body colored. I wonder if it could be painted. I have to admit I am attracted to the 2007 styling of the Aveo...but that center dash display has got to go. The Yaris ... Read More
I agree, Kia's are great rigs. The thing is, they're not expensive to buy them new(and you get that great Warranty that way) When you buy them used the remaining warrenty transfers to the new owner. When I went to the dealer (where I bought my 2002 Cinco...32,000 TROUBLE FREE miles....looking for a 2005 Cinco last August, (they were out of all 2005 Rios and Cincos). But they had a slightly ... I'm thinking you could buy seats from a 2004 or 2005 Rio Cinco and they would fit your 2003 Kia Rio Cinco. You could call a Kia dealer to ask them that specific question and then see about ordering the seats if they do. Shouldn't be that large of a project, but it sounds like it's worth doing for your driving comfort. It also sounds like one I'd attempt to do ... Read More
Oh, due to the car being so low, I finally lost the plate that was under the car - I assume to keep moisture and dirt out of the engine? Does anyone know why the car is so low in the front? I have to be careful or the front hits. Is there a way to make it higher?I have a 2004.
Don't think cruise is an option yet on the '06 but my dealer tells me it's in the works, since people apparently are pestering Kia for it. Yes and I was one of those people! :) I did it when I bought my 2002 Rio Cinco and again in 2004 Rio Cinco.
The Spectra has cruise (available), the Rio does not. I am not trying to be petty here. But there is a good aftermarket cruise for the Rio available. I have it and it works well. However, I believe the 2006 Rio has it as an option now. I never understood why Kia never offered it until 2006. If your 2004 gave such good service why are you not considering replacing it ... Need some advice. My 2004 Kia Rio died in an accident last month. I had 36,000 miles on it, and not a worry. Now, do I go for a new Rio, or does anyone have anything to say about the Spectra. I can get a NEW Rio and a slightly used Spectra for the same price... can't make up my mind!!! Any suggestions?
yeah, the 2006 Scion xA's have the audio controls on the steering wheeel...I kept pressing the wrong button to accompish what I wanted, though! :P I would eventually get used to it, but, you know, audio controls on the wheels are only a so-so item to me. It sounds like your new 2006 Kia Rio's are just fantastic little cruisers! I continue to be amazed at the intelligent design of my ... Read More
I now have 1900 miles after just 3 weeks. We took a few long trips, we are really enjoying the car. In fact I enjoy it more then any other car I ever owned including 2004.5 Spectra and 1998 Sportage (just to name a couple). I am getting an average of 28.6 MPG (60% highway and 40% city). I always have my AC on medium. I am very satisfied with the ... Read More
Can you guys please tell me how much MPG you are getting city and highway? thanks because i have mix reviews on the Kia's some say they are getting great MPG and other say the opposite. My mother as a Kia Rio sedan 2004 and she is only getting 25 MPG combined.
Yes I get plenty of stares here, I was driving around South Beach this evening and I parked at a meter on Ocean drive, I had to piss so badly and I know a hotel where just about anybody could walk in and use the restroom, beats trying to find a bush! The spot was right across the street from a cafe where people were seated outside, I felt many eyes ... Read More
I saw the Fit at the New York auto show, looked almost silly. Rio5 has sort of a muscular look to it, fit looks tiny like a Scion XA (which I test drove and hated, couldnt fit inside). I think the Toyota Yaris and the fit will both do well based on their names but I'll take my Rio5 over them anyday! I think I would even take my fathers Suzuki ... Read More

I looked on a previous post and see that you mentioned a 2004 Rio Cinco. From what I can find, it doesn't look like they break out the Cinco from the Rio sedan. Total 2004 sales for the Rio was 38,518 vs. 41,285 in 2003. I actually found these numbers on the Kia website. Here's the link- http://www.kia.com/010405.php
I have found that theautochannel.com is a great source of almost all carmakers sales figures. You just have to dig on the site to find them. An easier way would be to Google "kia sales figures 2004" or whatever year you're wanting to know. If you aren't able to find it, tell me what year and model(s) you want to know and I'll track down the info for you.
I have a 2004 Kia Rio Cinco. It seems to hit bottom when I go down a low drive or hit a dip. Does this happen to anyone else? Also has anyone got better MPG by turning off the o/d while city driving and turn it back on when in the freeway/highway? I have also found it to have better pick up with the o/d off.
I for one am not surprised. I have a 2002 (actually I bought it for my mother) and 2004 Kia Rio Cincos, I couldn't believe what a difference 2 years made! I was set to trade for a 2006 but alas they went hatchback! I so much prefered the station wagon look. Oh well it looks like Kia has another winner under it's belt. Way to go Kia!!! By the way ... The 2006 Kia Rio/Rio5 are big improvements over the last generation, but, then again, I didn't think all that much was wrong with the last-gen Rio's! You are right, I have a 2004 Rio Cinco. It's been a great car. I had plans (before the pics came out) to replace it with a 2006 Rio Cinco now 5. But Kia had to screw it up by giving it a cheap "hatchback" ... Read More
I am on my second Rio Cinco. My first was a 2002 and now my 2004. I like the 2004 better I couldn't believe how much improvment 2 years made. You are right about the buzzy sound but mine will respond also. IMO the 2006 will carry on that tradition.
Pricet or not the Rio is a great car. I have a 2004 Rio Cinco. I was a bit disappointed that Kia went from station wagon to the hatchback on the Rio5. That fact kept me from trading my 2004 for a Rio5.
was going for...the hatchback look, more sporty and less conventional "station-wagonish". They both look good, really. chuck1959, I'm glad you like your 2004 Kia Rio Cinco. I like them, I remember sitting in one in 2001 when we bought our Sportage 4x4 and thinking it felt kind of cramped in the cabin. That was the first model year for the Rio Cinco if memory is serving me correctly. I wasn't in ... Read More
I am glad my local Kia didn't have the 2006 Rio 5's yet when I went to buy a Cinco. I wound up buy a 2004 Cinco with 1,917 miles. I think the Rio5 looks too much like a "hatchback" as opposed to the "station wagon" look of the previous generation.
"but if the Sephia I once rented (they had nothing else available and I was anxious to try it out) is any indication of what to expect in a Rio, I'll pass". OMG I couldn't believe what I just read! I get sick and tired of people basing their oponion of Kia on the Sephia!!The Sephia has not been made since 2001!! It VERY obvious you have NOT kept up with ... Read More
My dealer here in Houston has yet to recieved any Rio5's. From what I hear no one has. I went to buy one on August 9 and the had none. I was told the would have them in 2 weeks. They still don't them. I was told the waiting list was about 20 people. Since I couldn't wait, which wound up being a good thing. They had a 2004 Cinco with ... Read More
Of course the Spectra is going to be better than the Rio. It's the next step up in the Kia line up for crying out loud! There is nothing really wrong with the Rio. I have had 2 (2002 and 2004). Yes it may have hard plastic in the interior, but it has never bothered me. As far as the armrests go, I never put my arm on one anyway.
When I took my 2004 Rio Cinco for service, I noticed they had recieved a shippment on Rios. After looking at them, I am going to keep my 2004 I like the styling better. But that's just me, I am sure they will sell a lot of the new ones too.
I had a brief encounter last night with an '06 Rio sedan at my KIA dealer. I've had some interest in looking at a Rio5 for the wife as a daily kid hauler and grocery getter, since I've had very positive experiences (so far) with my 2004.5 Spectra EX and the dealership itself. I've been watching the dealer's lot for the past few weeks to see if any Rios (sedan or ... Read More
Ok I understand. Your right about the new Rio. I also think that the styling of the 2002 is not as good as 2004. I would have considered a Spetra if my budget had allowed. IMO all Kias are really a good deal considering what you get for the price.
Day before yesterday, I bought a 2004 Rio Cinco with 1900 niles! I wanted a 2005 but they were out of then as well as every dealer here. Anyway, they told me the 06's were supposed to come the last week in August. I would have waited but I'm not to crazy about the restyle.
I needed to replace my old car. So based on the good luck (25,000 trouble free miles) with the 2002 Rio Cinco I bought my mom, I decided to get one for myself. To my disappointment the dealer (and every other one in Houston) were out of Cincos. With the employee discounting they had sold their stock on 2005. I could have waited 2 weeks for a 2006, but I don't ... Read More
the old Sephia. So what you say? Well, IMHO, that is saying something. I enjoyed my '99 Sephia but Kia, as backy has pointed out very eloquently above, has improved the subcompact Spectra. Call it factory/knowledge sharing with Hyundai if you want(I am of the opinion that Kia handles their own engineering ship fine without Hyundai's help)but Kia is putting out a very substantial economy sedan for $13,720 with this Spectra. ... My husband needs a car to take him 7 miles to the train station in the morning and then back home at night. We are mostly looking for the lowest monthly lease payment for a car that will sit in a train station all day. I was looking at the Kia Rio (2004 or 2005). Any opinions or better suggestions? Thanks!
No, haven't drive the tC yet but it will be on my shopping list when I buy my next car. But it's more likely that next car will be something in the low-end class. I am particularly excited about the Honda Jazz/Fit coming here next year, and there will be some other great small cars available when I go buying in 2006, including the Mazda3i, the Spectra (but still don't like ... Backy, thanks for the explanation. However, I am still curious as to why you find the Sentra's handling "sloppy". I would certainly agree with you that back seat room in the Sentra clearly reveals its late 90s design (introduced in Spring 2000 as a 2000). Also, the Sentra has quite possibly the most absurd excuse for a cupholder that Ive ever seen. I drove the Aerio upon its introduction, when it ... Read More
