What's New for 2014
The 2014 Kia Quoris is an all-new model.
Introduction
Forget the name for a second, which we think is pronounced like "Boris." Or "chorus." Or perhaps something with a vaguely French trill at the end. More important is that the Kia Quoris will roll out to markets outside of Korea late this year, and we're guessing the rear-wheel-drive luxury flagship will reach the U.S. by next fall as a 2014 model. In Korea, it's called the K9, a name that would no doubt be met with equal derision and bewilderment in the United States.
Whatever the pronunciation and whenever it arrives, the 2014 Kia Quoris promises to be a sportier edition of Hyundai's more patrician luxury sedan, the Equus. Kia offers a choice of engines in Korea, including a 286-horsepower 3.8-liter V6 and a 329-hp 3.8-liter direct-injection V6, both joined to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Expect Kia to also offer a 5.0-liter V8 when it comes to the States.
The Quoris will also feature LED headlamps, advanced smart cruise control, a collision warning system, blind-spot detection, lane departure warning and a 360-degree-view monitor display.
The name, by the way, springs from a mash-up of "core" and "quality," Kia says. For now we'll take the company's word for it and expect that this large luxury sedan will be an interesting competitor to models like the Acura RL, Cadillac XTS and Lincoln MKS.
