The brakes on mine squeak sometimes if I let is sit more than 24 hours, but they have always done that since I bought the Jeep new. (2006 Jeep Wrangler X 6 cyl.) Are there any modifications that can be done to an older jeep wrangler (2003 to 2006) models that would increase towing to 5,000#? A 4.0 automatic Wrangler is quite capable of towing 5Klbs and I've done it myself many times. However, when I've done so it's been on relatively flat dry roads with efficient trailer brakes. Are there any modifications that can be done to an older jeep wrangler (2003 to 2006) models that would increase towing to 5,000#? Engine work? Transmission coolers? Shocks? Frame? My 2006 Jeep Wrangler X had to have the Rotors replaced about 1 wk after I drove it off the lot. They said it may be part of a bad "batch". After 2 years I had to have them replaced again. Not under warranty the second time...so they say. I have owned all types of vehicles and NEVER had to replace Rotors this often. It is definitely a problem at the factory and not due to normal ... Not a maintenance issue but was wondering about the future status of the 2006 Jeep. It is the last "Jeep". I mean with two doors, regular length and straight 4 or 6 cylinder engine. I think the engine in the 06 and earlier is better then the current engine that is from their Van.AFAIK. By better I mean longer lasting. I was glad that I bought mine when I did. Any thoughts? Are we talking hard top or soft top here? If soft top, just get a new bar for the back window. BTW this should be in the Jeep Wrangler 97-2006 section not the YJ area. Try quadratec or JCWhitney. -Paul Read More...

me too. If i go through a puddle it takes out my starter. I replaced my first one and 3 months later i need to replace again. If i go through a puddle the starter goes. Its not like im driving driving through lakes and I thought jeeps can go anywhere? I have a 2door 2006 unlimited (long wheel base) manual. i love my jeep but this is troubling and expensive.
