Hello paulp! How has the history of your Jeep overall? What, is it 6 years? I am soon to buy a used Wrangler. Any advice? It is a model under 2000. Thanks!
I have been looking at Jeep's for my daughter that will turn 16 in December. I have found a 1995 Jeep Wrangler 2.5L manual, Hard top, 102K for a reasonable price. Many people question me about putting her in a Jeep. I started driving in a 78 K10 Blazer and have been in trucks/SUV's every since. She's got her first "3-wheeler" at the age of 4 and always driven anything she ... Read More
Going to assume that you've checked the following: distributor cap (not cracked or wet inside), rotor inside distributor, coil wire. My Jeep (1995) has two fuel filters, one in the gas tank and one external, don't know about 94's. How long has this been happening? When the engine quits, does everything else shut off too? With engine running, turn everything electrical on one at a time; radio, lights, a/c or blower, ... Read More
jeep wrangler 4speed 4x4 4cyl 1995 acts like still in gear when in nuetral you can literally watch the gear shift bounce as you approach the red light, doesn't matter if you push the clutch all the way in or not at all, this is in nuetral shift stick bounces around and jeep makes a loud clunking noise like something must be really loose
I was towing my 1995 Jeep Wrangler 4X4 to utah this past weekend. Around the flagstaff area i had to make a u-turn and the wheels only turned a little bit and stopped turing so i atarted to drag the front end. The key was in the on position but i had the battery disconnected. I also had the T/C in the neutral position as well as the manual transmission. I ... Read More
my 1995 jeep grinds when i'm shifting to 2nd gear but when i let the clutch in for a while no problem. Just wandering does the 5spd transmisson take oil what kind and where do you put it in?? It only has 68000 miles. i have the dot clutch oil topped off.
One of our door straps broke and we have already ordered new straps for the doors. However, cannot find any information on the hing the strap is attached to. I am not talking about the hinge ON the door, but the "hinge" inside the door. In fact, it may be made of plastic? I have looked EVERYWHERE!!!! Any help? Thanks!
our 1995 jeep wrangler--4 cyl, stick quit suddenly while going down the road. There is no spark or fuel. We have replaced the pick-up in the dist. and the crank sensor--still nothing-any suggestions other than the ecm. Since all these parts I am throwing at this thing are electrical they are expensive and not returnable. thanks-Shirley
I have a 1995 Jeep Wrangler. I had the same exact problem. I also replaced everything like you did. It was my computer, had it replaced about a year ago and no longer have the problem. The mechanic told me the way to check it, when you turn the ignition and the check engine light is not on, your computer is not sending the signals to start the jeep. Mine took ... Read More
My 1995 4 cylinder jeep with a three speed automatic transmission (132,000 miles) has a problem with down shifting from the high gear. I have replaced the filter and added a conditioner for automatic transmissions and did get better up shifts but still have this nagging down shifting problem. As the jeep slows down it begins to shudder and occasionally stalls since it wants to stay in 3rd gear. Does anyone ... Read More
I have a 1995 Jeep Wrangler 4.0 cylinder 5 speed manual. I want to put a pretty big lift on it but i dont know what to do. I was thinking a 4 inch suspension with 2 inch body but i dont know if thats bad. What should i do?
I have a 1990 Wrangler and I am having the same problem. Once I get into 4th I cant shift back into 3rd, it just grinds, but i can shift from 4th to 2nd fine. Someone told me that it could just be the cold weather.?
I have a 1995 Jeep Wrangler Sahara 4.0L with a 5 speed transmission. I have a 2" shackle lift and 31" mud tires. As of last Friday my transmission has been messing up. After I shift out of 2nd and go into 3rd, a clunking noise happens and it wont let me shift back down to 2nd. It will not go into 2nd, can't even force it. I can shift up ... Read More
I only saw the general rating, but the two door Jeep Wrangler was rated as better than average by CR. This compares to the Wrangler Unlimited which was rated as poor. My nephew bought a 2007 2-door Wrangler and he said it is the best Jeep he has owned. He had owned a 1995 YJ and a 1999 Cherokee. He also owned a Liberty for about three months, but traded it ... It's hard for the books to be accurate on a 15 yr old car.. too many variables. Personally, $5160 seems awfully high.. Post the details of your car here: Real-World Trade-In Values Someone may be able to give you a value for it.. Also, check out the market.... There aren't many cars from '95 that will bring, $5000... even those that originally sold for a lot more than a Wrangler. regards, ... Read More
i have been trying to sell my 95 wrangler for the blue book price of $5160 and i have not gotten any hits on it at all, what am i doing wrong, does nobody what to buy this car or what.its in great shape how do i get some one to just come see it?
I have a 95 wrangler with automatic transmission. It's been running at high rpms for the past couple of weeks -- between 3000-4000 before switching to a higher gear. Anybody have any ideas as to what the problem might be?
I bought my jeep (1995 YJ Wrangler) mainly for snowy winter roads, and I have not been disappointed. In 4x4 mode, I have a lot of traction and I feel more secure than I have in any 2wd vehicle. (My wife's 4wd Chrysler T/C minivan also feels quite secure.) You might value a Wrangler for winter driving (but don't get too enthusiastic - snow is still snow, and there are legions ... Read More
I'll give it a shot.
Time for the garden hose test then! Having a helper works best. Work from bottom to top, rather than from the top down. Lift the hood and have them spray against the upper firewall first, then progress to the bottom of the windshield and on up to the roof. You may also want to do around the side window frames and up inside the front wheel wells/inner fenders. Spend a good ... Read More
Yes I replaced the seal between the bottom of the window frame and the body. The window frame and the body are all in good condition and have not signs of rust.
I'm not sure from your description which seals you replaced, but the most common cause is degradation of the rubber seal that goes between the bottom of the windshield frame and the body. Sometimes the windshield frame itself can also let water in through rust holes. The cure is to replace the seal (it's not expensive) and make any necessary repairs to the frame/body at the same time. The most important ... Read More
I have 1995 Wrangler and it leaks water through the dash every time it rains. I have replaced the window seal and the seal along the window frame and the hardtop. It has full steel doors. I can not find where the water is coming in. Can anyone help with this? Matt
I seem to recall some discussion of bikini tops in the main Jeep Wrangler discussion. You may want to take a look there. tidester, host
Hello gang!!! I recently bought my dream vehicle. A 1995 Jeep Wrangler. I've had no problems with any of the top removals, but am having some stress getting the bikini top on properly. Any assistance you could offer would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Well, I'm going to be the weird one and disagree here. I think it might be a good deal, if it's condition is really that good. When I sold my YJ, I sold it for only $1000 less than I had paid for it a few years earlier. That's because I had all the tops, plenty of options, and I took care of it. Of course, I always wished I'd kept ... Read More
I have experience similar to birdjaguar - around 24 mpg highway also with a 4 cylinder 2.5L OHV motor and manual transmission in my 1995 YJ Wrangler SE (same as the 4 cylinder motor in the 97-2003 TJ). I drive conservatively - the 2.5 L likes to turn 2,500 rpm which translates to about 58 MPH with the standard 4.10:1 axle ratios - plenty fast enough for a short wheelbase (SWB) ... Read More
I have some experience with MOPAR motors... As many of you know, I have a '95 YJ with the 2.5L OHV 4-cylinder motor. 94,000 miles and no problems. I would consider getting a used YJ or TJ with this motor as long as the vehicle is properly maintained. The 2.4L ('04+ TJ) is a DOHC 16 valve motor that is not at all like the 2.5L (I do have the 2.4L ... Read More
I own a 1995 Jeep Wrangler (Sahara) with 30,000 miles. It recently acquired a noise in the rear. When one turns rather sharply, either left or right, a rubbing noise seems to come from one side or the other. Seems to be more obvious turning left but once in a while it will make a noist when turning right. I figured it was the suspension system but I lubricated (WD40) rather ... Read More
I just purchased a 1995 Jeep Wrangler and i was wondering if anyone could tell me why the speedometer light,Fuel Gauge Light, Battery Light, Temp. Light and other dash lights may not be working. I just recently bought a 1998 Jeep Wrangler. I amn excited to dive into modifying it and adding to it right away but I can't seem to find the Chilton's for it anywhere. Any one run into this before and where should I be looking for this instead? It seems all of the manuals I have found only go up to 1995 or 1997.
I bought a Red 1995 Jeep Wrangler S Sport Utility 2D and a Black 1989 Jeep Wrangler Sport Utility 2D both 4X4 and with 4-Cyl. 2.5 Liter, you know, His & Her's Jeeps. The CJ's were succeeded by the YJ's, and the YJ years were 1987 thru 1995. There were no '96 model Wranglers, and the TJ's were introduced as a 97 model. All Wranglers 97 thru 05 are TJ's. The YJ's had leaf springs, as did the CJ's, but I believe the YJ leaf springs were wider. Someone jump in here and verify or refute this, please. The TJ's have the coil springs ... Read More
"Well, I am officially a Wrangler owner. I didn't go out and buy a brand new TJ, but picked up a 1995 YJ Rio Grande Version (2.5L/auto, slow combo, but I don't care" cool! i am thinking about getting a mid 90s jeep. what might i expect it to cost? how do you like it so far? cheers.
Steve_host asked me to stop by. My 17-year-old son has been driving a 1995 Jeep Wrangler for a year now. Well, he can drive when the grades are good. :-) The previous owner had big tires on it, but they were going bald. We put normal sized tires a couple of weeks after the purchase. As a mom, I would put the kabosh on BIG tires. I could not believe how ... Read More
What a mom! You are definitely a cool mother!!! There's no way to tell you all that you need to know in one post. I'll give you some of the basics, and others can chime in too. It would be best if you read some old posts to get a feel for Jeeps. The current generation of short wheel base Jeeps (Wranglers)is the TJ. The first model year for the TJ ... Read More
Guys, thanks for responding…. I did some quick checking. Guy21 – I double-checked and there is nothing in the way. I even watched the “soft-top” portion of the video again and I seem to have things correct. With the soft-top fabric draped over the front windshield I can clearly see all the bows and frame assembly. Even if I stand in the jeep pushing down on the header I still can’t ... Read More
I knew it was too easy. I picked up my 2003 Wrangler Friday afternoon. It is a joy to drive and feels much different (smoother) than my 1995. I watched the video last night and I'm confused on the dual top issue. The jeep comes with both tops installed and suggests that one be removed immediately. I believe the word "MUST" is included in the suggestion. My question is do I ... Read More
Hi, I'm a former Wrangler owner ('87, 4.2). I'm looking into a '95 S with a 2.5l engine, and 5sp. Are these engines any good in the jeep.... do they have enough power to live well past 100k miles. I don't plan on doing any serious off roading. I'm surprised to see the MPG's rated at 18.... is this true? I was getting that with my 4.2 2bbl engine!
A sight you might take a look at is the TJ FAQ at http://www.visi.com/~tam/tjfaq.html It's no longer being updated, but it's still a good intro. CJs are the "original Jeep" vehicle that eventually became the Wrangler. The last model year for the CJ7 (same dimensions as a Wrangler) was 1986, about the same time Jeep/AMC became part of Chrysler. They have round headlights and a leaf-spring suspension. YJs were the first-generation ... Read More
Jeep owners, a little assistance please. I plan to purchase a Wrangler as a 2nd vehicle for general entertainment and pulling a jon boat. I'm not concerned with cosmetic appearance, but want a mechanically sound engine. I'm looking at older Jeeps ranging from 1988-1995. Can anyone tell me when the transition was made from carbureted engines to fuel injected engines? Any other engine/transmission problems I should avoid? Thanks for you help! ... Read More

Hey, folks, I just found your site (I'm not much of an e-guy). Can I join in? I have a 1995 YJ Wrangler (last year before the TJ). You know - rectangular headlights. Tsjay, Jeffer2 here. My Wrangler search is on hold for a little bit. I have a few other things going on right now.
