Jeep Wrangler Wheel Wobble

I can relate to everything you describe. My first jeep was a 1994 Jeep Wrangler Renegade....I ordered it brand new and kept it until 2008. I loved that Jeep but needed a newer model. I never had any problems with it, changed the battery every few years, and replaced the radiator. I put 160,000 miles on the engine. I traded it in on a 2005 Rubicon that had 14,000 miles on ... Going to assume that you've checked the following: distributor cap (not cracked or wet inside), rotor inside distributor, coil wire. My Jeep (1995) has two fuel filters, one in the gas tank and one external, don't know about 94's. How long has this been happening? When the engine quits, does everything else shut off too? With engine running, turn everything electrical on one at a time; radio, lights, a/c or blower, ... Read More

Jeep Wrangler Hard and Soft Tops

  • 1994 wrangler hard top question

    Written by: vtmets1 on Dec 14, 2007 4:14:13 PM

I just bought a 1994 wrangler, the jeep has a hard top, Jeep originally had a soft top. There is only 2 bolts holding the top on. At about 30 miles an hour, a lot of noise from the top, a wind noise from the front of the vehicle. Is this normal? Do I need to put a gasket between the top and the windsheild?? Thanks in advance. Hey I have a 1994 Jeep Wrangler YJ and just got a hard top for it. The top fits perfectly but I realized the windows from my soft top setup doesn't fit the top. Is the only solution to buy full steel doors or will some kind of window work with my half doors? Thanks a lot to anyone that can help me.

It could be one of several issues with your steering, none of which are inconsequential. Most likely is a steering box problem. Have it attended to immediately! Consider that sentence to be repeated several times. Steering failure could lead to a substantial reduction in your quality of life. :(

How vulnerable are you to serious injury? I think that rather depends on the specific accident you have in mind. Princess Diana was killed in single vehicle accident in one of the safest cars in the world. All TJs perform well in safety tests and the latest models have the most safety features. However, a short wheelbase on some models and a high center of gravity mean that you can't corner ... Read More

I wanted aluminum wheels but not sure if wheels from later model Wranglers fit or what wheel/tire combo would be best. - mostly lite off road and street use! Toyota FJ Cruiser vs Jeep Wrangler

First off. The FJ Cruiser is in fact a solid vehicle. Anyone who knows anything about wheelin' knows about the FJ40. And no one is stupid enough to argue with Toyota's reputation for quality and reliability -- it's second to no one!!! AND ITS NOT A JEEP -- I mean "HEEP"!!! As far as first impressions go, I am still not a huge fan of the large C pillars. That being ... Read More

The blower motor is working fine but only blows cold air when the heater is on. I've no in-depth knowledge of the HVAC system on the earlier Wranglers, but diagnosis is fairly simple. First, when the coolant is up to working temperature, feel both the hoses linking the heater to the cooling system. One is a flow and the other is a return. If one is hot and the other is ... A sight you might take a look at is the TJ FAQ at http://www.visi.com/~tam/tjfaq.html It's no longer being updated, but it's still a good intro. CJs are the "original Jeep" vehicle that eventually became the Wrangler. The last model year for the CJ7 (same dimensions as a Wrangler) was 1986, about the same time Jeep/AMC became part of Chrysler. They have round headlights and a leaf-spring suspension. YJs were the first-generation ... Read More

texasjeep, I am not sure if the Rubicon will offer a 4 speed automatic. The only real specifications I have are at the following Web link http://www.jeep.com/autoshow/news_events/rubicon_design.html - they just mention the automatic as an option. I still am a little old fashion when it comes to transmissions in a Jeep and would more than likely still go with a manual. The older Wrangler I had was a 5 speed and ... Read More

I am looking to purchase a 2000 or 2001 Wrangler Sport, but my husband is wary. Our roommate owns an '85 Cherokee and has had many problems with it (but she didn't have it checked out before purchasing it), i.e., blow-by, transmission, alternator, master cylinder, and some electrical problems with the indicator and hazard lights. I wonder if this is typical of a Jeep that's 16 years old, and if anyone ... Read More
