    It is caused by water shorting out the circuit that tells the computer the door/hatch/gate is closed. Somehow the moisture/rain gets in the back gate and shorts it out sometimes. I also have this problem when it rains. Doesn't happen every time it rains, but it happens. I also have problems with my lock/unlock button on the driver side door.     My Jeep Liberty CRD 2.8 is once again being towed from home unable to turn over under it's own power after sitting in my garage for 4 days. Sure, I could jump start it again.     I am having exactly the same problem with a 2006 Jeep Liberty CRD. It doesn't matter whether it is winter or summer, If you don't start it in 3 - 5 days, the battery will go dead. The dealer has replaced 2 batteries. If you find out what is causing it, please post the answer.

    That's possible, but when I did the test it was not that cold, around 13F. The meter dropped when the light went out so I think the PCM cuts the power down after initial heat up.     The battery rundown in 3-5 days is not a problem I've seen reported here or on other Jeep forums. I suspect that either your battery is defective or you have a short. Is the battery and engine compartment clean? Grease trails on the battery or near terminals and connections can cause shorts.
