2005 Jeep Liberty SUV Sport 4WD 4dr SUV (2.4L 4cyl 6M)

Review

Purchased 2005 Jeep Liberty Sport 4x4 on 6/30/05 with 14 miles on it. Has been in the shop with a known transmission defect (but apparently undisclosed by manufacturer) for over a month. The release date for the repair has come and gone, but it is now on back order. Chrysler/Jeep will not stand behind product. Told me to sue them under lemon law. Think twice before you buy! At the very least verify that the vehicle you purchase was manufactured after April 2005.

Suggested Improvements

Stand behind your product. Fix the transmission. Treat your customers better.

2005 Jeep Liberty SUV Limited 4WD 4dr SUV (3.7L 6cyl 4A)

Review

Great vehicle for running around locally in all terrains. Sensational handling. You must stay alert when driving long distances as vehicle needs constant steering. Gas mileage for weight could be better. No driver interior thoughtfulness when designed. No place for storage other than small glovebox, no place for coins. Cargo area for its size is very good with the fold down seats. Gas gauge should be on right side of dash because you cannot see it as it sits behind steering wheel. Also after rainfall, I notice water under the rear door when I open it.

Favorite Features

Looks (a sure classic for the future), handling, pop-up rear window. Sunroof. Fold down rear seats.

Suggested Improvements

Interior door locks could be level with door instead of sticking up, so area can be used to rest arm. Gas mileage. Seal on back bottom of door to keep water out.

2005 Jeep Liberty SUV Limited 4WD 4dr SUV (3.7L 6cyl 4A)

Review

Fun to drive, handles well in traffic & easy to park. Plenty of acceleration. Overall, I am very pleased with the Liberty.

Favorite Features

4-wheel drive, power leather seats, stereo controls on steering wheel,

Suggested Improvements

I would like the ability to lock the car from the rear cargo area. It would be helpful to be able to lock the car after unloading groceries, etc. without using the key fob or opening one of the passenger doors & pushing the button located on the inside of the door.

Review

A great SUV, especially if offroad performance and styling are important attributes. It's very stable in town and rock climbing. This Jeep is trail rated.

2005 Jeep Liberty SUV Sport 4WD 4dr SUV (2.4L 4cyl 6M)

Review

It handles great, and maneuvers like a car. Easy to see all around, even for short people (5.3"). Small turning radius.

Favorite Features

Moonroof. Love how the backdoor/glass opens

Suggested Improvements

Window controls are in the middle console, would like it better if they were on each door. Plate where stickshift is, glares in the sun/blinds me sometimes.

Really comfortable and roomy for a smaller sized SUV. Feel sporty and trendy zipping around. Great overall buy for the price.

Favorite Features

Sirius radio, tire pressure monitor, auto unlock rear window - very convenient

Suggested Improvements

Standard should include anti-lock brakes and side air bags.

2005 Jeep Liberty SUV Sport 4WD 4dr SUV (2.4L 4cyl 6M)

Review

This is our first SUV purchase and so far so good. The Jeep feels like the real McCoy. Beside the overall complaint of gas mileage, everything is as good as it gets for the money. Practical and simple interior design. Exterior looks great too, especially in the new dark khaki color. This is one fun to drive kind of truck. Nimble with tight suspension and a good seating height above most cars and SUVs. We live on a steep inclined hilly road that is a problem to deal with in the winter and Jeep's reputation for off roading won us over from other 'crossover' SUV car based models at the same price.

Favorite Features

Streamline exterior looks, moonroof

Suggested Improvements

Back seat could use another inch or two or be able to shift forward or backward beside just folding down to accommodate cargo and passengers easier.

2005 Jeep Liberty SUV Sport Rwd 4dr SUV (2.4L 4cyl 6M)

Review

Bought it to tow behind RV. Very happy with the quality and comfort. I liked the no hassle buying; all I had to do was pick out the color and options. It has plenty of power and is fun to drive. Our other car is a E320 Mercedes wagon and it is getting lonely just sitting is the garage while we drive this one.

Favorite Features

Quality, comfort, fit and finish and I love the bugeye lights.

Suggested Improvements

Hatch to store things.

2005 Jeep Liberty SUV Sport 4WD 4dr SUV (2.4L 4cyl 6M)

Review

I was so excited about this vehicle when I read about it. Got one and it has not run right yet. It misses, surges, and gets poor mileage. Dealer service people are baffled about why. Am still working on the problem by checking fuel quality while limping the vehicle around. Had to be towed once, and it is so much fun driving not knowing when your vehicle will quit again.

Favorite Features

Like the body design. Nice and high and easy for my wife to drive. She is tall and fits in the vehicle very well. Fun to drive when it works.

Suggested Improvements

Not reliable, engine performance inconsistent.
