2002 Jeep Liberty SUV Sport 4dr 2WD SUV (2.4L 4cyl 5M)

Review

First, this vehicle came with a poor
choice of tires (Wrangler ST) so I
upgraded after 18m miles to the larger,
fatter Firestone Destination LE (yes
Firestone) tires. For $350.00, it
TOTALLY changed the way I feel about my
Jeep. I love it. My family of just 3
went out to AZ with Seadoo in tow in
June and the Liberty did just great up
and down hills and through the desert
from South Texas to Lake Havasu City
(1200 miles each way). It carried all
our luggage, lake gear, vhs, toolboxes,
chests, etc. with no obstruction in
back window and 60/40 back seat flipped
down. Absent "slippery in rain" tire
issue, this Jeep has given me zero
problems. As for gas, its an SUV!!!
Great towing capability!

Best Features

Great towing capacity, no hint of drag when towing, great on boat ramp! Great style and build quality inside and out for an American vehicle!

Worst Features

Cloth seat option=> seats narrow. Crummy very dangerous slippery tires (almost wrecked twice). Trust me; switch out tires and problem solved (and overall ride is smoother)!

2002 Jeep Liberty SUV Renegade 4dr 4WD SUV (3.7L 6cyl 5M)

Review

This vehicle is everything that a
college student wants. It is sporty,
fun to drive and a great off road
escape from the rigors of college
campus life. If you need to transport
your friends for some off rading relief
this vehicle ahs it all. Lots of head
room and storage capabilites makes this
vehicle great for transporting
bicycles, kayaks, and anything else you
can do outdoors. You can't go wrong
with this vehicle.

Best Features

Fold down rear seat, roof rack, tinted windows, automatic 4 wheel drive, running side board, remote rear window opener.

Worst Features

Cup holders in the rear should be a little more accessible.

2002 Jeep Liberty SUV Sport 4dr 4WD SUV (2.4L 4cyl 5M)

Review

I love driving this vehicle. Its the
stopping that is the problem. It
weighs too much not to have ABS
standard. I just had my front brakes
replaced at 25K miles! 4-5 recalls is
not alot on a brand new model, but
these were significant recalls. The
tires are junk. I still have some
miles on mine, but I am getting them
replaced early because they are unsafe
on even damp roads. Other than those
gripes I love this vehicle and will buy
another one if these items have been
improved.

Best Features

Style, Sight Lines, Very nice road handling, Tough body construction.

Worst Features

ABS Standard, better tires, fully folding rear seats, move the window controls.

2002 Jeep Liberty SUV Limited 4dr 4WD SUV (3.7L 6cyl 4A)

Review

I love my Liberty! This a all around
great SUV with good looks inside and
out, strong engine, solid feel, and
perfect size. Compared to other
vehicles in it's class it is the best
by far. No mechanical problems to
date. For it's weight of 4000 (read
solid feel), it handles and performs
well when needed, great for short
trips to the mall (easy parking) or
long camping trips fully loaded up.

Best Features

Steering wheel controls-Radio and CC, Good looks inside and out, seating position, ice cold AC.

Worst Features

Window controls to door like normal vehicle, better tires (mine squel after 25K on hard cornering), Leather driver seat showing wear, 5-speed auto.

Review

Jeep has serves me well. Used in
Arizona/New Jersey in all sorts of
weather/road conditions.

Pros: Excellent aircon;
Comfortable ride; Unpainted fender and
bumpers on sport model still look new
even though bumped and scratched;
Reliable: only replaced rear window
motor under warranty and ball joints
(recall). Replacing engine and
transmission oil is important to great
running; Brakes are good good but keep
in mind weight of vehicle on wet/icy
roads.

Cons: must slow down in wet; mediocre
Premium CD/radio

Best Features

Take anywhere convenience;great style; awesome aircon; great luggage config; great in heavy rain/flooding; Lou Grubb Service Arizona;inexpensive service: $500/year so far; great gauges; great size for city; good V6 and auto

Worst Features

deeper seat cushion; better handling under heavy breaking at high speed; fuel economy: 18mpg in city and 20mpg (Arizona fuel) 22 (Jersey fuel) on highway; wind noise above 60mph; Bill Luke Arizona sale staff: snakes
