  My 03 runs perfect -- no issues. Of course it only has 33k miles and I keep it maintained and serviced. You would love my truck but alas -- it's not for sale. Libertys are a mixed bag but very risky in terms of reliability. What is your price range ?

  That 02 has no antilock braking or side airbags or esc. Not good for a top heavy suv driven by a young driver. Aside from the mechanical issues with a new engine, this was the first year for the Liberty. Need I say more. Choose wisely and good luck.

  That depends on what you mean by blown a cylinder. Did you crack a cylinder head? That's the most common issue that I guess could be considered a Blown Cylinder. Get more info!

  I'm sorry about saying your liberty didn't have a fuel filter. It does and it is located on top of the fuel tank. I really didn't even know it had one. I have been a Chrysler dealer mechanic for 15 years and I have never changed one. The recomended change interval is to change the filter if and when you need to replace the fuel pump.   I am having the same problem with my wife's Jeep Liberty that is also a 2002. It will randomly die on her. None of the electrical systems shut down it is just the motor. the Heater and the radio and the lights all stay on. I have had the battery checked and the alternator checked and both were fine.

  Again, you don't have a fuel filter and the code in the odometer will start with a 'P' and then have 3 numbers following it. If you can't figure it out bring it to one of those auto parts stores that will scan DTC's for you. Let me know and maybe we can get you on the right track.

  Well we tried changing out the battery but no success. The code 6lass popped up but not sure what that means......it could of been a G...not sure as it flashed really fast. I do have a crack in my windshield but not sure what that would have to do with my car not running properly. So what do you think my next course of action is? the fuel filter? thanks.

  Turn your key on then off then on then off then on and watch the digital odometer for the codes. And about the fuel filter. Your jeep dosen't have one. Chrysler hasn't used fuel filters since the mid 90's. The only thing filtering fuel is a strainer on the end of the fuel pump in the tank. They almost never clog.   If you have a start and stall condition and it requires you to Two foot it to keep it runnung it could be a number of things but first you need to either get your battery checked or install a known good battery and se if the problem goes away.   I got into a wreck now my passenger side back light keeps blowing out and when changed I can tell that the plastic covering has been melted and the light is cracked open before changing...my fuse # 12 keeps blowing each time i insert a new one and the door locks, vanity lights and radio will not work...help

It is located underneath the chain and satellite gears you can see in picture "nv242_1.jpg". This seems quite frightening :( The gears located at the bottom of the picture provide the extra "LO" ratio.
