hey, i am having the same problem, except the it will only go into gear sometimes.. we have had horrible problems with the speed output sensor, and have replaced at least 3 times, bought a new one, and tried to drive the car down the road, and it was fine for a few miles, then all of a sudden, it completely quit working. now it wont go into gear at all. Does anybody know or have any suggestions as to what this problem could be- my a/c is not blowing much cold air at all. My heat works just fine (knock on wood), but my air doesn't seem to wanna blow cold air. I checked the refrigerant, and that is around like 40 psi- which is right about where it should be. I have a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited edition that has about 173000 miles on it when I start it it revs up to or over 2 rpms and then it takes almost a minute for it to rev back down. OH YEA! ! !.. sounds like you found the problem-bad connection in the t.p.s-contact- then fixed it!..the only thing i might add is a habit i've gotten into,and coated the contacts with -dielectric grease-..it's non conductive(won't short anything),and keeps contacts from rusting/corroding ...should be at the auto supply,in a tube,or at a electrical supply..i ... I have a 4.7 that was knocking at 2000+ RPMs, was told to replace main bearings, I did so, the main bearings had no sign of wear, however as i Rotated the crank during removal of the first bearing, both of the thrust bearings fell out, upon visual inspection, both thrust bearings have signs of wear and metal gouging. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but we had very similar problems with our 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee... all electrical in nature. We replaced sensors and other less expensive items...however in the end replaced the electrical control panel/unit...and all problems were resolved.
