if it stalls after 2 to 3 sec after start its the alarm smart key try reseting remove 1 screw from bottom of colom and you will see a black box that reads the key un plug it and turn the key on the acc then dissconect neg batt what 5 min put colom back together conect batt and you should be all set

2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee: intermittent no crank/turn over/start when turning key, but all electrical is okay. I do have an after-market remote starter/alarm system. Since it started when it is jumped i would rule out anything sensor related in your car, if it had been your starter, jumping would not have helped. I know you said you checked battery, but it really sounds like a bad battery. You said you took the battery some place. Out of car you took it? I had the same problem on my Ford PU, and it turned out the flexible brake lines on both sides had swollen on the inside, restricting the return of the brake bluid to the master cylinder. If your brake components are clean of rust so that they can move freely, then it is probably those lines or the brake cylinders themselves.

I took it to the dealer and to other auto care center and the difference in the price from both places is $83. Is it worth paying that extra in the dealer? A damaged torque converter shouldn't affect reverse but the whole tranny. I would think If the torque converter was damaged that it wouldn't move. On my jeep there is something I think is a sensor, i'll look, it's on the bellhousing. I had the blower motor resistor problem on my 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee where the connector melts. I am replacing the connector and noticed there is always 12 volts going to the connector, even when my Jeep is off. Is this normal?

Sounds like your temperature sensor. Just had mine replaced for $ 158.00. They are easy to put in if you know anybody that can do it. You can buy the part at autozone. Good LUck

If you pay somebody to rebuild your engine or install a used engine, make sure you get a 90 day warranty on the compression test. V8 is cool. But, assuming it can be made compatible, maybe an I6 would be easier to find and cheaper. My 97 2wd JGC has the 4.0 I6. Acceleration was good but I don't tow

My 2000 jeep Grand Cherokee 4.0 has the same issues,i am in the process of replacing the engine with another low mileage engine.It might be very costly to try to repair.I would search around to see if I could get another engine if I were you.

Sounds like my jeep had a leak in the radiator,changed water pump,changed radiator, changed thermostat, and had radaitor cap checked. Bleed cooling system. Still ran hot.
